Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Supply Chain Manager, the Shipping Associate supports all Reading Bakery Systems - Indianapolis shipping and warehouse functions. This position ensures that materials and products are shipped, received, and recorded accurately and efficiently to support production and customer delivery schedules.

Essential Job Functions

Coordinate and perform all shipping and receiving functions for Reading Bakery Systems - Indianapolis. Assist the Supply Chain Manager in maintaining accurate warehouse and inventory control records. Process and document all shipments in accordance with company procedures. Review requisitions for accuracy and completeness; generate and place shipping orders with approved vendors via email or other methods. Maintain and update qualified vendor data based on delivery performance, cost, and quality. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, manufacturing teams, and service technicians to align shipping activities with project timelines. Load and unload trucks, sort and stock incoming materials, and prepare outgoing shipments. Assemble and prepare shipping containers using appropriate hand and power tools. Operate forklifts or other material-handling equipment safely and efficiently. Utilize ERP systems for inventory management; experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shipping area in compliance with company and OSHA standards.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience required.

Training:

Vocational or technical training in mechanical assembly preferred.

Communication:

Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Comprehension:

Ability to read and interpret work instructions, engineering drawings, and procedure manuals.

Math Skills:

Proficiency with addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and ratios.

Problem Solving:

Demonstrated reasoning and analytical skills.

Mechanical Ability:

Ability to safely and accurately perform basic mechanical tasks under supervision.

Measurement Skills:

Ability to measure parts to within 0.001 inch using precision instruments.

Preferred Skills

Prior experience in shipping, logistics, or warehouse environments. Familiarity with ERP or warehouse management systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience preferred). Forklift certification a plus. Strong attention to detail and commitment to on-time delivery.
