Job Overview


We are seeking dedicated and compassionate veterinarians to join our team. This role is essential in providing high-quality veterinary care to animals in our shelter and the surrounding community. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in veterinary medicine, with a focus on critical care and/or community outreach. You will be responsible for diagnosing and treating a variety of animal health issues, performing surgeries, and educating the public on responsible pet ownership.

Minimum Requirements:



Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree Currently licensed in Idaho to practice veterinary medicine or ability to obtain license upon hire Qualified and ability to maintain DEA and Idaho Board of Pharmacy license

Work Schedule:



8-10 hour shifts 4 hour shifts No night shifts Ability to be on-call for clinic/shelter staff in emergency situations

Responsibilities:



Veterinary (Shelter Medicine)

Perform high volume and high quality spay/neuter surgeries including pediatric surgeries on shelter animals. Oversee medical care and treatment of shelter animals Maintain relevant and comprehensive medical records with the support of shelter system Develop medical protocols following ASV Guidelines Clinic staff management, if interested

Veterinary (Community Clinic) optional for relief position*

Provide spay and neuters to privately owned pets, including pediatric surgeries, and TNR efforts. Participate in community vaccine/microchipping clinics and offsite events

Required Skills & Abilities:



Excellent surgical and diagnostic skills, minimum of two years experience preferred A genuine compassion for animals and the desire to learn and support LCAS' mission and vision and philosophies of a non-profit animal welfare organization Be able to multi-task in a fast-paced, and sometimes stressful environment Have basic computer skills, and the ability to learn shelter data system Be able to interact with clients, staff, volunteers and the community effectively

Physical Requirements



In this position, regular exposure to temperature variations, high noise levels, zoonotic diseases and hazardous chemicals are expected.

Position includes prolonged periods of repetitive movement and stationary positions. The ability to move animals and/or equipment weighing 50 lbs or more. Additionally, the applicant may be around animals that attempt to bite, nip or scratch.
