: Service Technician - Durable Medical Equipment (DME)
Position Overview
Rehabilitation Equipment Associates is seeking a reliable and skilled Service Technician with a strong mechanical background. This role involves repairing, maintaining, delivering, and setting up durable medical equipment including power wheelchairs, scooters, lift chairs, hospital beds, and mobility products. Candidates must be able to pass a drug test and have a clean driving record.
Key Responsibilities
Repairs & Maintenance
- Diagnose and repair power wheelchairs, scooters, manual wheelchairs, walkers, hospital beds, and other DME.
- Perform preventative maintenance and safety checks.
- Install and troubleshoot electronics, batteries, motors, joysticks, and seating systems.
- Maintain accurate repair and parts documentation.
Customer Service & Field Work
- Deliver, set up, and educate customers on equipment use.
- Communicate professionally with customers, caregivers, and clinicians.
- Evaluate equipment issues onsite and provide solutions.
Driving & Logistics
- Safely operate a company vehicle for deliveries and service calls.
- Load/unload equipment safely.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and mileage records.
Administrative
- Complete service tickets and documentation accurately.
- Maintain parts inventory and notify management of needs.
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical background (automotive, small engines, electronics, etc.).
- Clean driving record and valid driver's license.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Ability to lift 75+ lbs.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Comfortable with smartphones/tablets and basic computer tasks.
Work Environment
- Fast-paced mix of shop work and in-home service calls.
- Frequent lifting, bending, and equipment handling.
