Greet and seat guests warmly, ensuring a personalized and attentive start to their dining experience.
Present menus and provide detailed information about daily specials, ingredients, and preparation methods.
Utilize extensive food and wine knowledge to offer informed recommendations and expertly pair dishes with appropriate beverages, including wines, spirits, and cocktails.
Accurately take and enter food and beverage orders into the POS system, noting all special requests and dietary restrictions, and communicating them clearly to the kitchen and bar staff.
Serve dishes and beverages with polished etiquette, ensuring proper presentation and timely delivery to maintain the flow of a multi-course meal.
Monitor guest satisfaction throughout the meal, anticipating needs, and addressing any concerns or complaints promptly and professionally.
Perform tableside duties as required (e.g., decanting wine, preparing certain dishes).
Collaborate effectively with the kitchen, sommelier, and other front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service.
Maintain a clean, organized, and elegant dining area, including proper table settings, polishing glassware and silverware, and performing opening/closing side work duties.
Process payments accurately and efficiently, handling cash and credit card transactions with integrity.
Qualifications & Skills
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a server in a fine dining or upscale restaurant setting is required.
Strong knowledge of food and beverage service, including comprehensive wine, spirits, and cocktail knowledge and the ability to make educated pairing recommendations.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on delivering a professional and discreet guest experience.
Ability to work effectively in a busy, fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and grace under pressure.
A professional demeanor and polished appearance, adhering to high grooming standards.
Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems (e.g., Aloha, Micros, Toast POS) and reservation software (e.g., OpenTable, Resy).
Relevant certifications, such as a food handler's permit or alcohol service certification (e.g., TIPS, ServSafe Alcohol), are often required by local and state regulations.
Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
