The Server is responsible for delivering exceptional service to guests, ensuring their dining experience is enjoyable, efficient, and memorable. This role involves greeting guests, taking orders, serving food and drinks, and maintaining a clean, organized dining area. Servers play a key role in promoting menu items, providing informed recommendations, and ensuring guest satisfaction through attentive service.
Essential Duties/Major Accountabilities:
Greeting Guests:
Welcome guests as they arrive with a friendly, professional demeanor.
Engage in conversation, inquire about food allergies, and discover the reason for their visit
Accommodate special requests, including allergies, dietary restrictions and celebration needs.
Explaining any house specials or promotions.
Coordinate with hosts and managers to ensure the efficient seating of guests, especially during peak hours
Menu Knowledge and Upselling:
Be well-versed in the menu offerings, including ingredients, preparation methods, and potential allergens.
Use knowledge of the menu to upsell items such as appetizers, drinks, and desserts.
Be ready to answer any questions about the menu or make recommendations based on guest preferences.
Notify guests of any out-of-stock items and provide suggestions for suitable replacements.
Deliver Great Customer Experience:
Provide excellent customer service by attending to guest needs, checking back with guests during their meal, and ensuring their overall satisfaction.
Handle difficult situations with professionalism, ensuring guest concerns are addressed promptly.
Report guest complaints issues to managers,
Offer guests the option to box their leftovers, ensuring items are properly packaged and labeled for takeaway
Encourage satisfied customers to leave reviews online and share their positive experiences.
Serve Safe, Beverage and Alcohol Knowledge:
Ensure all food and beverages are served according to health and safety standards.
Have a strong understanding of the beverage menu, including alcoholic drinks, and ensure safe service practices (e.g., checking ID for alcohol service).
Responsible for reporting to management when a guest has reached their limit on alcohol consumption and should be cut off.
Open and Closing Duties:
Complete opening and closing duties as assigned
Come prepared with a staff bank for the shift to ensure smooth payment processing during service.
Ensure all tasks are completed before leaving, following the shift's protocol.
