Our Federal agency client is seeking a Writer to conceptualize, write, and edit complex information for a variety of internal and external audiences, for use in newsletters, policy instructions, speeches, talking points, presentations, publications, and other documents which explain or promote the agency\xe2\x80\x99s mission, priorities, and initiatives to agency employees, senior executives, leaders and managers, and potential employees; or to the general public, State agencies, professional trade organizations, other Federal agencies and Offices, and others. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILL
\xc2\xb7 Currently holds, or is able to obtain, DHS Fitness Determination \xc2\xb7 BS/BA in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field \xc2\xb7 Submission of writing samples must be received for resume to be considered \xc2\xb7 Minimum of 10 years of experience providing all writing, editing, proofreading, and creative conception as requested, for any of the following materials: reports, news releases, fact sheets, Web site text, and public speaking scripts. \xc2\xb7 Impeccable written and oral communication skills \xc2\xb7 Experience managing clients and communications product requirements \xc2\xb7 Experience managing the process of approvals and quality assurance in project deliverables ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
\xc2\xb7 Proofreading written materials for typographical, grammatical and format errors; ensuring products are of consistent quality \xc2\xb7 Translating topics that are highly complex into compelling messages that are easily understood by employees, managers, senior executives, potential employees, partners, advocates, and the general public. \xc2\xb7 Editing complex communications products including, but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, invitations, educational toolkits, scripts, speeches, talking points, outlines, presentations, reports, summaries, one-pagers, operational and strategic plans, communication plans, training curricula, policy memos, instructional bulletins, Q&As, publications, and other materials developed by staff within the agency to ensure consistency with Agency messages, administration priorities, and accuracy with regard to GPO style guidelines, as appropriate. \xc2\xb7 Adding \xe2\x80\x9ctrack changes\xe2\x80\x9d and \xe2\x80\x9cversion\xe2\x80\x9d history by providing easy access to the version history of the application\xe2\x80\x99s items to identify who made edits and when they were made. \xc2\xb7 Conducting fact-checking and proof-reading, when requested. \xc2\xb7 Advising on strategies related to editorial style, publication workflow, and related issues. \xc2\xb7 Brainstorming promotional ideas, contributing to the creation of storyboards for visual media, crafting blog/social media/informal communications posts, creating/writing content for internal and external websites, and completing other tasks as assigned. \xc2\xb7 Writing, editing, and maintaining documentation of processes and procedures to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), as requested. \xc2\xb7 Advising program personnel regarding review requirements and other matters related to the preparation and clearance of documents and publications. \xc2\xb7 Tracking publications and materials through the clearance process and keeping relevant parties updated on the status of projects. \xc2\xb7 Completing Reporting \xe2\x80\x93 Develop monthly reports based on documents reviewed.... \xc2\xb7 Recommending, clearing, and implementing communication strategy, including contributing to the development of communication plans and suggesting appropriate tactics to achieve the agency\xe2\x80\x99s or organizational work unit\xe2\x80\x99s communication goals. Identifying and leveraging data and media trends to inform strategy. \xc2\xb7 Maintaining a general understanding and awareness of agency activities in order to proactively identify opportunities to advance agency\xe2\x80\x99s/organizational work area\xe2\x80\x99s communication goals. \xc2\xb7 Executing other duties as assigned, including occasional administrative responsibilities in support of the organizational unit\xe2\x80\x99s goals. \xc2\xb7 Researching and writing fact sheets, articles, and web content \xc2\xb7 Developing and distributing newsletters for both internal and external audiences \xc2\xb7 Designing, developing, launching, distributing, and otherwise supporting written products related external affairs plans and publications as identified \xc2\xb7 Applying plain language principles and grammar \xc2\xb7 Incorporating a range of styles and \xe2\x80\x9cvoices\xe2\x80\x9d suitable to various formats or media. \xc2\xb7 Editing for consistency, united, and \xe2\x80\x9cone voice\xe2\x80\x9d LOCATION
