SUSTAINING ELECTRICAL ENGINEER
Lexington, Kentucky

TRC seeks a Sustaining Electrical Engineer plays a vital role in supporting new product development and designs. We are seeking an experienced engineer who can hit the ground running, deliver sustaining/VAVE projects, is a critical thinker with the ability to innovate out-of-the-box solutions, and someone who can analyze and test designs. Position is on site in Lexington KY

Responsibilities

Provide strong knowledge related to engineering product simplification and product cost take-out, through evaluating new vendors, manufacturing methods, and commonizing platforms.
Evaluate alternate components and update the Approved Vendor List (AVL) accordingly.
Support product testing to confirm design compliance.
Design schematics using Altium.
Complete component tolerance analysis for circuit designs.
Direct generation of PCB layouts.
Assist in the development of improvements to current product designs by reviewing sketches, descriptions, specifications, and supporting documents; work with mechanical engineers and product designers.
Utilize project management tools to track tasks and progress within projects.
Define and document product specifications and requirements.
Analyze product designs using Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) techniques.
Conduct preliminary physical tests to develop designs, concepts, and prototypes.
Prepare test plans for physical testing and confirm/validate designs.
Construct and evaluate prototypes (soldering experience preferred).
Diagnose and solve electrical problems with products or systems.
Research and stay up-to-date with industry trends and competitive products.
Interface with Program Managers, Quality, and Manufacturing personnel as required bringing new products from concept to production.
Interact with vendors and suppliers on the design of purchased and custom components.
Work with minimal supervision on multiple projects, in a consensus-based team environment.

Requirements

Bachelor\'s degree in Electrical Engineering
Minimum of 5 years of experience in sustaining, value engineering, product simplification, and cost take-out
Experience using Altium (layout experience preferred)
Experience with project management tools and software suites preferred
Effective written and oral communication skills
Out-of-the-box creative thinker with product design and development, material, hands-on, and continuous improvement experience
