What you\'ll do...

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Software Engineer with a specialization in backend development, particularly using Typescript, NestJs, Kafka, SQL databases, and NoSQL databases. The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in software architecture and database design, and will be an integral part of a dynamic team focused on building innovative software in the field of GenAI. Nice-to-have skills include experience with GenAI and LangChain.

Our team works closely with our US stores and eCommerce business to better serve customers by empowering team members, stores, and merchants with technological innovation. From groceries and entertainment to sporting goods and crafts, Walmart U.S. offers an extensive selection that our customers value, whether they shop online at Walmart.com, through one of our mobile apps, or in-store. Focus areas include customers, stores and employees, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization.

Backend Development:

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of robust backend systems using Typescript, NestJs, and Docker containers.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and implement solutions aligned with project goals.
  • Database Management:
  • Design and manage both SQL and NoSQL databases, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and data integrity.
  • Utilize expertise in database design to architect efficient and scalable data structures.
Containerization with Docker:
  • Implement and optimize containerized solutions using Docker for deployment, scaling, and management of backend services.
  • Ensure the efficiency and reliability of applications within containerized environments.
  • GenAI Integration:
  • Work closely with the team to integrate GenAI technologies into the backend systems.
  • Leverage GenAI and LangChain capabilities to enhance and optimize software functionalities.
Event-Driven Architecture:
  • Utilize Kafka for implementing event-driven architectures that align with the requirements of GenAI applications.
  • Design and implement messaging patterns that enhance the overall reliability and scalability of the system.
Software Architecture:
  • Contribute to the overall software architecture, ensuring that it aligns with best practices and supports the goals of GenAI initiatives.
  • Collaborate with architects to define and implement scalable and maintainable software solutions.
  • Code Quality and Best Practices:
  • Enforce coding standards and best practices to maintain high-quality, readable, and maintainable code.
  • Conduct code reviews and provide mentorship to team members.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, including frontend developers, product managers, and data scientists.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Technical Expertise:
  • Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer with a focus on backend development.
  • Proficiency in Typescript, NestJs, Kafka, SQL, NoSQL databases, and Docker.
  • Architectural and Database Design Skills:
  • Solid background in software architecture and database design principles.
  • Ability to design and manage both SQL and NoSQL databases.
GenAI and LangChain (Nice-to-Have):

Familiarity with GenAI and LangChain is a plus.

Problem-Solving Skills:

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to contribute to architectural discussions.

Collaboration and Leadership:
  • Experience working collaboratively in Agile development environments.
  • Leadership skills to guide and mentor team members.
