Summary/Objectives:




The Sr. Software Engineer will collaboratively work within the Product Team on current and future projects. Responsibilities include hands-on development, directing software system architecture, and leading the identification, evaluation, and selection of technology solutions. A significant emphasis will be placed on the utilization of event-based microservices, Internet of Things (IoT), and embedded systems.

Develop software solution architecture by studying multifaceted requirements, investigating problem areas, and following the software development lifecycle. Identify and determine operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions. Consistent, reliable attendance and punctuality at assigned work location. Ensure solutions are fit for purpose, while balancing other concerns such as platform operating costs, ease of use, etc. Document and demonstrate solutions by developing architecture documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, and clean code. Enhance operations by conducting systems analysis, recommending changes in policies and procedures. Update job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, participating in educational opportunities, including reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations Provide information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development and service issues Accomplish engineering and organization objectives by completing related results as needed Support and develop software engineers and developers by providing advice, coaching, & educational opportunities Design and/or evaluate high performance, reusable, and reliable API-based enterprise services. Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of the applications. Perform occasional quality assurance reviews of code and approve for release. Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:



Required:



Expertise in the design of event-driven enterprise services 3+ years designing cloud-native software solutions (AWS preferred) 3+ years designing Internet of Things (IoT) solutions Strong knowledge of the software development life-cycle, data structures, & software architecture Advanced expertise in RESTful practices and REST APIs A desire to work in fast-paced environment Strong experience developing embedded systems. Experience working on a variety of software development projects Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field highly preferred but not required

Understanding of lean manufacturing concepts highly preferred

Sitting for periods of time. Frequent periods of standing and walking. Lifting up to 25lbs unassisted and occasionally lift and/or move heavier items utilizing a team lift. Repetitive use of hands/motion and have manual dexterity, finger dexterity, and multi-limb coordination. Use of appropriate personal protective equipment, when required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

General office environment that is climate controlled; Production area is not. Will be required to visit production area regularly and may be exposed to airborne contaminants, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Safety glasses and safety-toe footwear may be required to be worn. The noise level may exceed permissible exposure limit and hearing protection may be required.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

Full-Time - 9/80 Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00AM - 5:00PM or 6:30AM - 4:30PM. May require overtime based on business needs.

Travel:

Some travel is expected for this position.
