JOB DESCRIPTION:

Established Civil Engineering and Surveying firm is seeking a Senior Engineer with experience in roadway design and Schematic / PS&E preparation for transportation infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Design of roadways in accordance with applicable design codes (AASHTO, TxDOT, etc.) and federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines.
  • Preparation of schematics and plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) packages.
  • Quantity calculations and report writing.
  • Mentoring and oversight of less experienced designers.
  • Meeting scheduled milestones in close coordination with project manager and other project staff.
  • Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending education workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and, participating in professional societies.
  • Implementation of QA/QC process and review of work products.
  • Other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Design experience, including:
  • Horizontal and vertical alignments for roadways
  • Intersections
  • Cross sections and earthwork
  • Retaining wall layouts
  • Traffic control phasing
  • Culverts and storm sewer
  • Erosion control and SWPPP
  • Signing and pavement markings
  • Experience with utility identification, coordination, and relocation design.
  • Experience with hydraulic modeling (HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS) for highway projects would be considered a plus.
  • Familiarity with TxDOT and NTTA practice is required. Experience with Oklahoma DOT is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microstation, GeoPak, and ProjectWise softwares; OpenRoads experience is a plus.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
  • Detail oriented and capable of performing routine design tasks as well as independent problem- solving including research of design options and documentation of findings.
  • Strong sense of time management and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to manage tasks on concurrent assignments in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work on a team and communicate professionally and in a timely manner.
  • Experience with supervising teams and mentoring staff.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Route Studies and Schematic Design
  • Roadway Design
  • 3-D Design Visualization Services
  • Signing, Pavement Marking, and Channelization
  • Roadway Hydraulic Design
