SAIC is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for our customer site located in Hanahan, SC. This position is 100% on site.

The role of Engineer on the JBC-P/MMC project has multiple responsibilities. The primary duty is to develop and maintain technical information around the integration of JBC-P/MMC hardware into vehicles used by the United States Marine Corps. In carrying out this duty, the engineer will be required to:

• Develop and maintain drawings and technical documents around specific vehicles and systems. This will require the direction of drafters and technical writers. There may be instances where the Engineer will need to use drafting or technical writing skills themselves if resources are unavailable. Experience with the JBC-P System is preferred.
• Understand and use military and/or commercial specifications in development of drawings as well as understand mechanical stress/strain and how forces acting on parts produce stress/strain. Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is preferred.
• Maintain the server containing technical drawings and work with database administrator and customer resources to move drawings and technical documents through the approval process. Knowledge and familiarity with CMPRO is preferred.
• Work with Quality Assurance and Logistics Teams in development of drawings and to identify manufacturing discrepancies to ensure that drawings contain information required by customer.
• Manage form fit exercises in development of drawings and technical documentation. This will require direction of engineering technicians and tech writers to develop installation instructions for JBC-P/MMC systems into specific vehicles.
• Participate in weekly/bi weekly meetings and effectively communicate project status to stakeholders. Ability to work well within a fast paced, team environment.
• Understand how to capture and report risk in Engineering areas.
• Participate and vote in monthly Local Change Review Board meetings.
• Supervisory/Leadership experience is preferred as the individual may be responsible for leading an Engineering Team comprised of Junior Engineers.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelors degree and five (5) years or more of experience. Experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
• Knowledge of CAD software. The primary CAD tools used on this project are AutoCAD and Inventor but are not specifically required to know. CREO is also available for use.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of software. Microsoft Word is used for technical documentation. Excel and PowerPoint are sometimes used for information presentation. Teams is also used in sharing of information. Outlook is the software used for email.
• Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.
