This position will be part of the Supply Chain Trade Management team that manages the flow of information and product for multiple TWDC businesses; optimizing costs and resources while meeting trade compliance policy requirements.

The ideal candidate will support merchandise and non-merchandise import/export regulatory compliance through the management of supply chain brokerage, bond management, awareness training, export compliance and special programs. Utilize reasonable care under the Custom\xe2\x80\x99s Modernization Act and Bureau of Industry and Security to address risk management through periodic reviews, training, documented procedures and broker compliance.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Core: Broker Compliance, Export compliance, Awareness Training Program, and Oversee Special Programs Management
  • (Supply Chain Security, Trade Assessments, Duty Avoidance Programs such as First Sale, etc.)
  • Develop global trade procedures related to customs (import), export compliance, and special programs management
  • Develop and manage trade compliance awareness training program
  • Engage with U.S. and regional government officials on trade compliance efforts related to policy matters, industry outreach, and issue resolution
  • Assist local affiliates with applications for free/foreign trade zones, customs warehouses or similar special-use zones or permits, alongside the development of processes for operating the zone/warehouse.
  • Monitor regional export and import regulatory and legislative changes and alert the appropriate parties on the impact to the business
  • Support customs brokerage RFPs and selection process; establish service-level expectations, broker SOPs, tools and metrics; establish and implement error resolution plans; and drive the enhancement of the broker management program in the North America region.
  • Manage and secure export CITES permits and data (where applicable)
  • Liaison with Disney Legal in securing required export licenses
  • Manage RPL screening process & maintain role as first point of escalation
  • Customs bond and broker POA management
  • Maintain ACE portal updates and maintenance (i.e. updates to EINs for both imports & exports)
  • Lead on electronic recordkeeping transitions internally and externally (i.e., Obtaining all Customs clearances for electronic recordkeeping)
  • OGA/PGA certification management
  • Advisory committee participation (i.e., Industry Trade Advisory Center aka ITAC \xe2\x80\x93 Consumer Goods)
  • Develop clear process engineering strategies, activities, and executions for trade management
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Manage and produce periodic broker audits, trade data reporting, and partnership engagements
  • Assist in the analysis of feasibility studies on optimization opportunities
  • Develop export compliance program
  • Proven ability to efficiently coordinate with Customs and other local authorities and experts to successfully resolve audits, challenges and queries
  • Demonstrated knowledge of special programs (i.e., FTAs, GSP, Tariff Quotas, Tariff Suspensions, First Sale, Origin Freight, CTPAT, ISA, etc.)
  • Self motivated and proactive with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities
Trade Projects
  • Serve as subject matter expert and drive trade management process improvement initiatives
  • Continuously seek out innovative process solutions for trade management in supply chain projects
  • Help to ensure key trade management project components include appropriate project organization, a clear statement of requirements and benefits, planning and scheduling project activities, controlling the execution of project plans, managing risk and quality, configuration management, and change control (where applicable)
  • Line of Business (LOB) Engagement Owner
  • LOB liaison ownership - regular communication with senior management on status, risks and regulatory impacts
  • Identify and address process gaps in order to generate new ideas that improve compliance management
  • Conduct periodic trade compliance reporting to key partners on import trade profile
Leadership
  • A self-starter agent for change, who utilizes design thinking and growth mindset tools towards trade compliance actions, incorporating anticipated future requirements to ensure long-term risk management.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to establish a strong culture of trust, problem solving, innovation, and ownership in the team, including hiring and developing great talent
  • Minimum of 7+ years experience in import & export compliance in the North America Region (covering U.S., Canada & Mexico)
  • Working knowledge of the U.S. Bureau of Industry & Security\xe2\x80\x99s (BIS) Export Administration Regulations & U.S. Customs and Border Protection Regulations (USCBP)
  • Strong project management, research, communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of analytical ability, ability to interpret government regulations and translate into impact on business initiatives
  • Must exhibit the leadership skills necessary to handle priorities across TWDC and to find common ground and solutions when there are conflicts in those priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead the business through efficient trade compliance measures.
  • Proven written and oral communications skills; strong interpersonal skills with experience working with diverse teams (brokers, vendors, IT, Legal, Finance and Business Clients)
  • Action oriented.

  • Fast Learner that is self-motivated, driven and proactive with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities.
  • Ability to write standard operating procedures.
  • Proficient in standard business office software such as MS Office applications: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MS, MBA degree: International Business, Global Trade Compliance, Business Administration, or related field
  • Export Compliance Certification, Export classification experience, Agility expertise
  • U.S. Broker License, Export Compliance certification, First Sale Training, Six Sigma, MS Project
