JOB SUMMARY
The Accounting Senior Manager is responsible for driving process improvements and ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP reporting to the VP Corporate Controller and collaborating with all Controllers. This role is responsible for corporate consolidation, financial reporting, and corporate accounting. This role supports the Corporate Finance and M&A teams in transitioning historical accounting practices at target companies to post-closing accounting and reporting requirements, recommending future financial plans and policies when necessary.
The opportunity is remote in the Pacific, Mountain or Central time zones, however priority will be given for anyone near Brea, CA to work a hybrid schedule. Responsibilities:
  • Lead corporate consolidation and reporting processes.
  • Coordinate accounting of Goodwill, Intangibles, Debt, and other key corporate accounts.
  • Assist with the monthly close process, including account reconciliations and journal entry review to ensure accuracy and US GAAP compliance related to corporate debt, equity, stock compensation, and purchase accounting.
  • Draft consolidated financial statements and footnotes on annual bases and prepare condensed financial statements on a quarterly basis for external reporting
  • Coordinate audits with external firms, collaborating with internal stakeholders when needed
  • Accounting for debt, debt modifications, and equity and draft technical memos were appropriate
  • Accounting for insurance cost, analysis and IBNR adjustments
  • Provide recommendations and demonstrate leadership in streamlining accounting processes and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Create or assist with creating accounting policies and recommendations identified
  • Serve as accounting support to local Controllers and accounting teams as they create and implement new accounting practices.
  • Support the accounting and financial reporting integration efforts at newly acquired entities.
  • Transition historical accounting practices to post-closing compliance with US GAAP and CoolSys' accounting practices.
  • Implement accounting and financial reporting integration tasks to bridge the gap between historical accounting practices and the post-closing reporting requirements.
  • Provide on-site accounting support if required
  • Partner with corporate, regional controllers and target accounting teams to execute tasks.
  • Support the F&A team by working with internal and external resources to support the corporate accounting, finance, and M&A teams with acquisition integration.
  • Evaluate the acquired business' accounting operations, processes, systems, and procedures for efficiency of workflow; identify process improvements and provide recommendations on solutions.
  • Drive the opening balance sheet purchase accounting and provide support to complete the working capital true-up calculations.

  • Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA License active.
  • Big 4 experience preferred, public accounting experience required
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting, with at least 3-5 years in public accounting professional.
  • Experience with financial statement preparation and consolidation
  • Ability to learn about merger/acquisition integration or due diligence advisory roles.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, especially in the application and accounting for acquisitions, ASC 606 including percentage of completion, and debt.
  • Demonstrated process improvement accomplishments.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Comfortable interacting with a variety of skill levels with a demonstrated ability to lead through influence.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite with advanced Excel skills.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational/prioritization and time management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task with close attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work effectively under pressure & meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel 10% of the time if required.
  • ERP implementation experience preferred.
  • Blackline or other closing tool experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, technical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships at all levels and across functions of the organization including the ability to interact with senior management and entrepreneur business leaders.
  • Ability to apply good judgement and discretion.
  • Ability to manage, supervise, train, and motivate a team.
  • Ability to understand and follow all company policies and procedures and all applicable State and Federal laws.
