In this senior, hands-on role, you'll own complex Microsoft 365/Azure, networking, and security projects end-to-end--planning, implementation, cutover/rollback readiness, and post-go-live validation--while keeping stakeholders informed and confident. Role Overview As a Level 3 Project Engineer (Network Systems Engineer), you will lead and execute client IT projects end-to-end--from discovery and planning through implementation, cutover, rollback planning, and post-go-live support. This is a hands-on role that requires strong technical depth, excellent documentation habits, and confident, clear communication with stakeholders. Employment Type: Full-time Location: Remote Responsibilities: What You'll Do (Responsibilities) Project Delivery & Technical Implementation o Deliver complex IT projects using industry best practices and repeatable, well-documented execution o Own project outcomes: scope alignment, quality of implementation, timeline adherence, and risk mitigation o Provide technical leadership during implementations and migrations, including troubleshooting and escalation support Project Planning, Documentation & Architecture o Perform technical assessments and produce practical project plans and migration roadmaps o Design and maintain architecture diagrams (current state / future state) for internal use and client alignment o Create clear cutover and rollback plans, change windows, and implementation checklists o Develop and maintain SOPs, runbooks, and client-facing documentation Migrations & Modernization (Cloud + On-Prem) o Lead and execute migrations such as: o Email and collaboration: Microsoft 365 / Exchange migrations, SharePoint migrations and redesigns, permissions planning o Google Workspace (GSuite): migrations and administration, including Google Admin Console (GAC) o Identity and access: AD to Entra ID (Azure AD), IAM planning, tenant transitions, user/device migration approaches o Device/user migration tooling: ImmyBot and/or ForensIT profile migration experience (preferred) o Data and line-of-business: QuickBooks, database migrations (including Century 21 / Pervasive DB scenarios) o Core network services: DHCP & DNS roles migration and modernization Networking, Security, Firewalls & Connectivity o Configure, migrate, and optimize: o Routers, switches (Layer 2/3), and network segmentation o Advanced firewall deployments, reconfigurations, and migrations o VPN setup and migrations, including Azure site-to-site and point-to-site o Network security best practices aligned to client requirements and risk profiles Client Communication & Stakeholder Management o Translate technical details into clear client-facing updates, risks, and decisions o Lead coordination with stakeholders and end-users before, during, and after cutovers o Maintain a calm, professional presence during high-impact changes and problem resolution Internal Collaboration & Vendor Management o Work with internal teams to align project outcomes o Work effectively with 3rd-party vendors and provide vendor support/coordination as needed o Manage and support tools/services such as AppRiver, Microsoft, Workplace, Cisco, Etc. Qualifications: Essential Qualifications (Required) Experience o 5+ years of hands-on experience in computer network management, MSP experience preferred o Demonstrated success delivering IT projects with planning, documentation, and stakeholder communication Technical Skills (Required) o Proficiency with routers, switches, and networking devices, including Layer 2/3 concepts o Strong Microsoft environment expertise, including: o Exchange 2019+ o Windows 10/11 o Windows Server 2019+ o Office 365/Azure Ecosystem o Ability to deliver and support projects across Microsoft platforms, networking, and security technologies o Experience supporting mixed environments (legacy to modern) is a plus.
