As the Sr Industrial Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for crafting a dynamic strategy and vision for the team while leading our highly skilled team of engineers to deliver analytics solutions supporting areas across UnitedHealthcare and Optum. Your leadership will be key in fostering strong collaboration within a wide range of business stakeholders and matrix partners to deliver on identified strategic priorities. This is a unique opportunity to showcase your ability to innovate boldly, especially in advancing AI and automation, within the workforce space. You'll apply principles of statistical quality control, business intelligence, and project management to solve complex challenges and guide organizational change. You'll also play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Industrial Engineering in healthcare-growing and mentoring a team of engineers into industry thought leaders who set the standard for excellence in this space.
You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of Industrial Engineers across domestic and global locations, fostering growth and career development
  • Develop departmental strategy and vision and gain cross-functional buy-in for successful implementations
  • Coach and educate business partners in performance management and productivity systems
  • Own end-to-end business processes, including reviewing, creating, controlling, and improving workflows
  • Support enterprise initiatives like Enterprise Work Delivery (EWD) and other tool deployments
  • Act as a liaison between Industrial Engineering and other business segments to improve coordination and standardization
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Planning, IT, Finance, Learning Solutions) to ensure alignment and execution of resource allocation and implementation of optimization projects
  • Develop innovative solutions using Industrial Engineering fundamentals, statistical models, and emerging technologies
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies that enhance operational efficiency or member experience
  • Build and maintain solid relationships with business partners and stakeholders to foster collaboration and business growth
  • Develop and monitor team MBOs which drive professional development and measure contributions within the overarching team

Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in healthcare operations, strategy, consulting, or business management
  • 2+ years of experience managing complex projects and creating strategic initiatives
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Visio, and Excel
  • Proven solid business acumen with ability to strategically consult with business and technical partners
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and influence at all levels of the organization
  • Proven ability to create and foster an inclusive and collaborative team culture
  • Proven solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in process improvement and performance optimization
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in Power BI and / or SQL
  • Experience with capacity planning
  • Experience with data mining methods and optimization techniques
  • Experience applying industrial engineering fundamentals in a service industry
  • Proven excellent communication skills, including executive - level writing and presentation development

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $110,200 to $188,800 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
