Responsibilities Senior Event Manager is responsible for planning and implementation of development events on the Jacksonville campus, within a specific geographical region, across the Mayo Clinic enterprise. Direct project and event management responsibilities with a focus on high-level, benefactor related events and the institutional leadership of those events. Ensures that events align with the institution and departmental mission, vision and objectives; that key institutional messages are communicated through events. Collaborates with directors, development officers and benefactors to ensure fund-raising goals are achieved. Planning activities will include face-to-face, telephone and written interaction with prospects and benefactors. Senior Event Managers provided direction to personnel, internal and external to Mayo Clinic, associated with each event. Partners with Director of Development Events on mentoring and training of Event colleagues. Performs duties independently and initiates judgment in handling a variety of programmatic issues. Requires the flexibility to travel and work weekends and evenings when necessary. Overall responsibility for planning, directing, coordinating and delivering activities pertaining to assigned projects. Accountable for project initiation, planning, executing, and closure. Regularly provides accurate and up-to-date project status information to project stakeholders while actively managing issues, risks and action items. Ensures event goals are well-defined and aligned with fundraising objectives and are achieved. Identifies tasks required to meet project goals. Accountability for project schedules. Directs project team members assigned to the project. Able to guide and direct activities across multiple professional disciplines and work units, and work effectively with various levels of management. Externally this position has frequent contact with vendors, contractors and consultants. Develop templates, promote best practices, and educate and mentor team members. Demonstrated leadership skills, including team-building, conflict resolution, negotiation, problem solving. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain project schedules. Manage multiple projects concurrently. The Senior Event Manager will have 10-20% of their FTE devoted to operational tasks management supporting the Events program, these duties will provide support at a programmatic level and fall outside the scope of traditional Event Manager event specific duties. Qualifications Bachelor\'s degree required, Master degree preferred. Five to seven years experience in event management, public relations, or marketing required. Demonstrates leadership in project management. Broad base event and project management knowledge and philanthropic functionality and fundraising strategy within development events. Understanding of the philanthropic process is required. Applicants must be capable of working collaboratively in a complex organization. Incumbents will have demonstrated competencies in project management, leadership, and communications. Contributes to the Department of Development and Mayo Clinic in multiple areas and efforts. Excellent oral and written communication skills required. The incumbent must be able to work effectively in a consensus-style operation that expects and promotes teamwork. Must show initiative by initiating process and program improvement within the Events program. Must be able to communicate and partner with Mayo Clinic benefactors and staff in a professional manner, and maintain a high degree of confidentiality. Must be able to represent Mayo professionally in working with six-figure and greater gift prospects and benefactors.
