We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to assume a key role within the Communication Products Engineering Department in Mission Systems. This Engineer will lead the design and development of digital hardware used in high performance communication products that are critical to the defense of our nation, such as sophisticated software-defined radios and data links designed for use in various ground, airborne, and space applications. This position is located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Design, document, verify, support, and troubleshoot digital hardware for communication products using electrical engineering principles and techniques. Designs may include the use of FPGA, processors, and DDR memory components, and industry interfaces, such as Ethernet, I2C, SPI, and UART.
  • Lead and perform circuit card design lifecycle activities including requirements capture, schematic capture, design documentation, signal integrity analysis, creation of board stackup and routing instructions, coordination and review of printed wiring board layout, creation of test plans, root cause analysis, and integration.
  • Test and troubleshooting of electronic circuitry. Includes support lab of design verification testing for circuit card assemblies.
  • Prepare and present project and/or technical information to peers, management, and customers. This includes producing technical documentation, including specifications, hardware design documents, and test plans. Applies cost and schedule management methods to projects. Works closely with a multidiscipline team to assure defined requirements are consistently met in all phases of a product\'s lifecycle, including supporting integration and test of the final product.
  • Provide mentorship to others, and work with technical subject matter experts in a highly collaborative environment.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Experience with Digital Circuit design, analysis, and test
  • Experience with schematic capture of electrical circuit designs. Includes familiarity with a schematic capture tool (examples may include Mentor Graphics xDxDesigner and/or Xpedition, Altium, Cadence Allegro, EAGLE, KiCAD, etc.) for creation of circuit card designs.
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Electrical Engineering and a minimum 5 years of prior relevant experience OR
  • Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Electrical Engineering and minimum 3 years of relevant experience
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must have or be capable of obtaining a U.S. DOD Secret Clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with electrical designs that contain digital electronics such as processors, FPGAs, high-speed transceivers, DDR and flash memories.
  • Experience with generating Printed Wiring Board (PWB) layout constraint guidelines and overseeing the routing, layout, fabrication, and assembly of the design.
  • Experience with signal integrity and timing analyses for creation of robust circuit card designs.
  • Hands-on experience testing circuit card assemblies and performing design verification activities.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies, including planning, tracking, and managing hardware development tasks in JIRA is a plus.
  • Project management experience using Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
