Universal Orlando Resort believes in-person collaboration is key to our success. Many of our Team Members work in a hybrid capacity, contributing from the workplace a minimum of three days per week. JOB SUMMARY: The Discover Universal Team plays a critical role in building the Universal Destinations & Experiences brand through editorial content, podcasts, and videos. The Senior Editor will drive content and build our consumer brand. As part of the Content & Innovation team, the Senior Editor is tasked with telling the story of Universal Orlando and the true guest experience in real time while strategically fostering audience growth, deep rooted fan affinity and brand awareness.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Editorial Leadership

  • Contribute to the overall editorial strategy and execution of high quality and rich storytelling with a focus on articles that build our brand.
  • Work to maintain the ongoing content calendar for Discover Universal Blog, ensuring a steady queue of content.
  • Help establish and sustain our brand tone in a way that connects emotionally with our customers.
  • Assist in executing a guest-first editorial content strategy.
  • Develop, write, and edit articles, planning guides and features.
  • Participate in weekly editorial meeting.
  • Plan and coordinate approvals and internal channel integration for blogs.
  • Oversee freelancers and internal writers as a resource and expert in the field as they develop articles that showcase Universal Orlando Resort.
  • Act as an in-house editor for all Orlando blog content, ensuring UDX nomenclature, Brand voice, LP initiatives, etc. are being represented accurately and in line with UDX standards.
  • Assign articles to internal writers and freelancers, ensuring all writers have a clear understanding of the topic, angle, length, tone, etc. and working with writers throughout the process to assure quality and efficiency.
  • Collaborate and develop always-on blog initiative series to span the entire calendar year \xe2\x80\x93 e.g., evergreen content, planning series, destination guides, guest stories, etc.
Manage Content and Platform Development
  • Coordinate the production of content with in-house and freelance writers.
  • Set project schedules and manage calendars for writers.
  • Set guidelines and operating procedures to deliver on brand ideas in a timely fashion.
  • Edit and review content written by other writers.
  • Assist with the management of the Discover Universal Blog as a digital platform.
  • Oversee the day-to-day platform management for the blog including publishing, tagging, SEO, maintaining content excellence (formatting, etc.), blog feeds and more.
  • Serve as an SEO expert to ensure that all editorial content is highly searchable and relevant to those in the mid-funnel
  • Work with internal partners to develop sharing strategies and distribution plans in an effort to reach a wide range of audiences with editorial content.
  • Analyze and track campaign performance, making real-time recommendations and help solidify and operationalize global KPIs and dashboards.
  • Work collaboratively across the business.
Editorial Content Planning
  • Strategize always-on blog initiative series to span the entire calendar year \xe2\x80\x93 e.g., evergreen content, planning series, destination guides, guest stories, etc.
  • Ideate, plan, create and distribute content to showcase the true/authentic guest experience at Universal Parks & Resorts.
  • Oversee and manage internal writers and external freelancers ensuring all have a clear understanding of the topic, angle, length, tone, etc.
  • Test and learn new editorial content types to be leveraged as insights.
  • Help manage the ongoing editorial content calendar for the Discover Universal Blog.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION: Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a focus on Marketing, Journalism, English, Communication, or other relevant coursework.

EXPERIENCE: 4+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience working in the field of content, media, communications, marketing, digital media, or digital communications, whether in an agency, freelance capacity, nonprofit or corporate setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
