The Customer Trust External Relations (CTXR) organization works to ensure positive public perception of Amazon\'s trustworthy shopping experience to help customers make purchase decisions and be confident the products they choose to buy meet their expectations. We are the safest place for customers to shop online, and the customer-obsessed tools our teams build help ensure customers have a trustworthy shopping experience in our store every time with every product, whether purchased from Amazon or from the millions of sellers in our stores around the world.

An important part of CTXR\'s charter is finding opportunities to engage thought-leaders, policymakers, and media on the trustworthiness of the store and improving public perception of the industry leading work our teams do on behalf of our customers. CTXR also acts as an internal advocate to help teams increase positive perception of their work and a creative ideas engine for ways to improve external awareness and excitement around that work, as well as accelerating and strengthening third-party advocacy and partnerships to benefit customers and drive improvements within the retail industry.

Amazon is seeking a senior content/communication writer to produce content for owned and earned channels, including websites, email and other external communications. As the editorial owner of external-facing content, you will be a hands-on contributor leading the content strategy, editorial roadmap, content creation and content management efforts for some of Amazons highest visibility and most impactful content across the globe. You will collaborate with internal business stakeholders (including product owners, PR, and public policy) to develop scalable processes to increase the breadth of information we share with external stakeholders while decreasing the time and effort required to publish high quality content.

Key job responsibilities

  • Define and uphold the bar for external-facing content - to communicate with key stakeholders about the exciting work Amazon is doing to protect customers from fraud, counterfeit and other forms of abuse.
  • Assist program leaders and the CTXR marketing team with copywriting - Draft and review business documents and edits for grammar, style, and form to ensure it aligns with Amazon writing standards.
  • Develop a content roadmap in partnership with customer trust team program leaders.
  • Lead content reviews with senior leadership and Customer Trust team program leaders.
  • Collaborate with product, technology and business teams to define content for external stakeholders so we can ensure external perceptions are aligned with reality.
  • Define and create new customer trust content (blog posts, newsletter, stories, press releases).
  • Serve as speechwriter to senior leaders, including driving the creation and delivery of compelling, executive-level presentation materials (slides, talking points, scripts, messaging documents, and customer stories).
  • Identify and build contacts of internal and external subject matter experts to help in content creation.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years of communications or journalism experience.
  • Experience in corporate communications, public relations or external affairs roles.
  • Knowledge of and comfort with AP style writing.
  • Experience writing web and/or blog content, including using CMS tools
  • Thorough understanding of writing for a specific target audience, and incorporating guidelines for brand voice
  • Strong content creation and or editing background
  • You will need to provide a writing portfolio or complete a writing exercise
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor\'s degree in English, technical writing, or a related field (or comparable job experience)
  • Experience working as part of a global team with remote colleagues
  • Experience working in an agile content development environment
  • Experience with a markup language such as HTML or XML.
  • Strong bias for action and the ability to balance multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $102,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $191,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
