Bay Cove pursues this mission by providing individualized and compassionate services to people facing the challenges associated with developmental disabilities, mental illness, substance use disorders, and homelessness at more than 175 program sites throughout Greater Boston and Southeastern Massachusetts.

Job Summary:

The Senior Clinical Director leads the design and delivery of culturally competent, evidence-based services rooted in harm reduction and a trauma-responsive approach. This role is responsible for leading a large team at two - 24 hour program sites. The Senior Clinical Director contributes to Bay Cove's mission by ensuring services challenge stigma, promote long-term wellness, and honor the dignity and autonomy of each individual as they pursue their goals.

This is an non-exempt position.

Essential Functions of Position:

Lead and continually develop the clinical direction of substance use treatment services. Promote and model a person-centered, harm reduction approach to care. Guide the design and implementation of trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and evidence-based interventions. Lead a large team (30+) of direct and indirect team members Supervise clinical team members, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality services. Facilitate regular case consultations, team meetings, and professional development opportunities. Support staff wellness and retention through reflective supervision and inclusive leadership. Ensure programs meet all local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2), and accreditation standards. Oversee clinical documentation, audits, and internal review processes. Implement outcome-based quality improvement plans and monitor program efficacy. Collaborate with medical, psychiatric, case management, and peer support teams. Serve as a liaison to external partners, funders, and regulatory bodies. Provide on-call clinical support and guidance during off-hours on a rotating basis. Other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements for the position:

A minimum of a master's degree in one of the following disciplines or a closely related field is required: clinical psychology, education-counseling, medicine, mental health, psychology, psychiatric nursing, rehabilitative counseling, or social work. Independent clinical licensure in Massachusetts, such as Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor I (LADC I), Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). At least two (2) years of supervised substance use disorder counseling experience required. At least one year of full time equivalent clinical supervisory experience required. Demonstrated professional writing, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Intermediate proficiency in word processing and other computer functions using Windows, Word, and Google Email and Apps. Demonstrated strong knowledge of substance use disorders, treatment models, and BSAS regulations. Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills are expected. Familiarity with trauma-informed care and culturally competent service delivery required. Demonstrated commitment to harm reduction, social justice, and trauma-informed care required. Knowledge of co-occurring disorders, LGBTQIA+ affirming practices, and community-based treatment models required. Experience with Medicaid/Medicare and nonprofit funding streams preferred. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and data-informed management preferred. Bilingual/bicultural strongly preferred.
