ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaboration and mentoring are cornerstones of Geosyntec s culture. This is a position that involves diverse project experiences where you can apply your academic knowledge, laboratory experience, attention to detail, and practical experience to review, verify, and validate environmental field and analytical data related to contaminated site assessment and remediation. Some of the key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Performing data quality reviews and assessments;
  • Performing Stage 2A through Stage 4 data validation;
  • Supporting data management efforts;
  • Coordinating with laboratories for project planning (i.e., selection and pricing);
  • Evaluating laboratory conformance with project work plans and field specifications and review laboratory quality standards;
  • Preparing, reviewing, and managing a variety of standardized data (soil, sediment, groundwater, air and tissue media) and deliverables, including project quality documents such as QAPPs and data validation reports;
  • Interacting with project managers and clients to cultivate an integrated team approach through open lines of communication and participation in work progress meetings; and
  • Preparing for and participating in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other parties.

  • Fieldwork: Up to 5% (lab audits)
  • Overnight travel: Up to 10% (project meetings, lab audits)

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE
  • Bachelor s degree in engineering, earth science, chemistry, or related field. (required)
  • Advanced degree in engineering, earth science, chemistry, or related field. (preferred)
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least 8 years of direct environmental consulting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • 2 or more years of experience working in a commercial environmental production laboratory. (required)
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary project teams. (required)
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills. (required)
  • Strong laboratory skills, including understanding of EPA, ASTM, and Standard analytical methods. (required)
  • Understanding of laboratory chemical hygiene and laboratory process and data quality. (required)
  • Experience performing environmental data validation. (required)
  • Experience performing data validation for some or all EPA stages. (required)
  • Working knowledge of EPA National Functional Guidelines for Data Review as well as regional guidance for the Pacific Northwest including Alaska. (required)
  • Familiar with Uniform Federal Policy for Quality Assurance Project Plan (UFP-QAPP) format and DoD Quality Systems Manual (QSM) documents. (preferred)
  • Familiar with various agency data models and guidance as outlined by Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment (SDSFIE). (preferred)
  • Familiar with Staged Electronic Data Deliverables (SEDDs). (preferred)
  • Familiar with the US Navy Environmental Information Management System (EIMS) and/or US Air Force (Environmental Resources Program Info Management System (ERPIMS). (preferred)
  • Experience preparing project quality documents such as Quality Assurance Project Plans. (required)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
