Summa Collective is seeking a positive and professional Senior Bookkeeper to join our firm. In this role, you will work closely with the owners to build a team of junior bookkeepers, and then lead that team as their manager. You will be responsible for ensuring timely and quality delivery of work, performing high-level difficult tasks such as troubleshooting and clean up, and acting as the primary point of contact for clients.   • Perform all monthly bookkeeping and payroll tasks for founding member clients
  • Document processes and decision trees, and create SOPs for monthly bookkeeping work
  • Manage and coordinate a team of bookkeepers and payroll specialists
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients and address any questions or concerns
  • Ensure quality and timely delivery of work to clients
  • Perform high-level difficulty tasks for clients such as troubleshooting, clean up, etc.
  • Standardize KPI and financial reporting for clients
  • Liaise between the bookkeeping team and leadership
  • General administration such as new client onboarding, managing general email inbox, sales pipeline follow up, scheduling/holding client meetings, gathering client documents, etc.
Senior Bookkeeper Core Responsibilities (90+ days):
  • Assist hiring and developing junior bookkeeping team
  • Support staff with high-difficulty tasks, such as overflow client work, training and SOP development
  • Work directly with leadership to develop new processes and software
  • Partner with leadership team and bookkeeping team to analyze client financials and provide detailed feedback to clients
  • Track KPIs for bookkeeping team and share them weekly with leadership team (e.g. # of tasks past due, # of tasks blocked, reworks)
Senior Bookkeeper Qualifications and Experience:
  • Reliable internet, computer, and smartphone
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in small business accounting
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience leading & cultivating team members
  • QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor required
  • Proof of and ability to maintain E&O insurance
  • Proficient in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite and Gusto
  • Preferred Tech Stack Experience: Asana, Notion, Loom, Portal, Canva, Uncat, Dext, Expensify, Calendly, etc. For the right candidate, we will train!
  • Accounting Degree, preferred but not required
  • Possible travel once or twice per year (team retreats or conferences)
Working Environment: Availability:
  • Monday \xe2\x80\x93 Thursday, Fridays are a flex day and can be used for makeup work or special projects (no expectation of responding to team/clients on Fridays)
  • Availability for a weekly check in with leadership (ideally Mondays)
  • Be within one of the US time zones and have availability to respond to clients/team between 9am-2pm Pacific Time Monday - Thursday

This is a 1099 contract (with ability to grow into W2 employee after 90 days) remote position. The workload/deliverables equate to approximately 15 hours per week. This position has great growth potential; as you (and we) grow, workload will easily increase, so we are looking for someone who\xe2\x80\x99s in it to win it. Pay is $25-$30 an hour, depending on experience.
