As a member the AWS Identity. team, you\xe2\x80\x99ll work on the core capabilities customers use to secure their most important infrastructure. Our team is building a new security and access management capability within AWS. This is your chance to help create the tools AWS customers will use to establish a zero trust environment for their employees, customers, and partners.

As an Applied Scientist, you will be responsible for researching, designing, developing, testing, and deploying data analysis for access control systems. You will collaborate closely with a team engineers and scientists to influence our overall strategy and define the team\xe2\x80\x99s roadmap. You will also drive the scientific vision, spearhead best practices that enable a quality product, and help coach and develop junior scientists. A successful candidate will have an established background in applying scientific techniques to large systems, a strong technical ability, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment.

Key job responsibilities
As an Applied Scientist III, you will be designing the analysis features of a new security and access management capability. You will contribute to the design of these components and work closely with other scientists and engineers on the team to deliver a reliable, scalable service. You will have the opportunity to mentor junior scientists and help them be successful.

About the team
Automated Reasoning in Identity (ARI) develops tools designed to answer questions about the future behavior of computer systems: what they might do, what they will do, or what they can never do.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Minneapolis, MN, USA

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - PhD, or Master\'s degree and 10+ years of applied research experience
- Knowledge of programming languages such as C/C++, Python, Java or Perl
- At least 6 years of industrial/academic experience in formal verification, program analysis, constraint-solving, and theorem proving

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, scipy etc.
- Experience with large scale distributed systems such as Hadoop, Spark etc.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $260,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
