Responsibilities



This is a senior level position with commensurate salary and full benefits package. Flexible or part-time schedule may be possible, with virtual option. We will also consider candidates out of state to work remotely. Our Philadelphia office operates on a four-day work week.

We are seeking a Sr. Civil Engineer/Project Manager with 8-20 years of experience designing and managing linear transportation projects. The position is ideally suited for a candidate with experience in both design and project management of civil design involving urban streets, multi\xe2\x80\x94use trails, and other bicycle and pedestrian facilities, but also with experience with roadway or highway design involving PennDOT and/or NJDOT.

The position will focus mainly on managing and leading the design of multi-modal transportation projects, but the ideal candidate should also have an interest and willingness to assist our team on an as-needed basis with projects involving site design, green stormwater infrastructure, parks, and other community development improvements for various public and private clients in Philadelphia and the surrounding region. The candidate should also have experience managing projects which include signing and pavement marking, erosion and sedimentation control, grading, and traf\xef\xac\x81c control. The individual will also have an opportunity, if interested, in assisting with bicycle and pedestrian planning, including region-wide active transportation plans, corridor master plans and trail routing and feasibility studies.

Ideal candidates will have project management experience, however, candidates with strong design background and an enthusiasm for project management will absolutely be considered.

The individual will report to the transportation department manager and will assist with managing junior staff. The individual will also assist with marketing pursuits on an as-needed basis.

  • The selected candidate will be able to manage engineering designers and take on internal project management responsibilities.
  • Technical design duties will include performing and reviewing design, report writing, speci\xef\xac\x81cation development, scheduling, QA/QC, budgeting, and cost estimating. Project management duties include scheduling, budgeting, and invoicing.
  • The position will require coordination with internal project team members across several NV5 of\xef\xac\x81ces, subconsultants, public agencies, clients, participation in project meetings, and assisting with community engagement efforts as needed.
  • Marketing efforts, such as proposal writing, will also be likely.
Qualifications
  • PE License in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and/or New Jersey
  • BS or MS in Civil Engineering
  • At least 8-20 years of design experience
  • At least 2 years of project management experience
  • Pro\xef\xac\x81cient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation/lnRoads/Open Roads Software
  • Experienced with AASHTO and NACTO design standards
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • A positive attitude and enthusiasm for design and working within a team
  • Passionate about alternative forms of transportation such as walking, cycling, and public transit
  • Ability to balance multiple projects at once
Certi\xef\xac\x81cations/Licenses:
  • PE License in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and/or New Jersey
