Job Overview


We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, and will be responsible for managing financial transactions, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This role requires proficiency in various accounting software and a solid grasp of financial concepts to support our organization's financial health.

DUTIES



Core Accounting Responsibilities (Responsibilities subject to Ammendments)

1. Manage Month-End and Year-End Close Processes

Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, inventory adjustments, and standard cost variances.

Reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring all entries align with supporting documentation.

Review and finalize financial statements, including the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement.

2. Oversee Cost Accounting for Extrusion Operations

Analyze actual vs. standard costs for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.

Investigate material usage variances, labor inefficiencies, and overhead absorption issues.

Collaborate with production and engineering teams to ensure accurate cost roll-ups and BOM integrity.

3. Control Inventory Accounting

Perform cycle counts and full physical inventory audits.

Reconcile perpetual inventory records to general ledger balances.

Review and validate inventory valuation and obsolescence reserves.

Financial Analysis and Reporting

4. Support Budgeting and Forecasting

Develop annual budgets and rolling forecasts in collaboration with plant leadership.

Compare actual performance to budget and explain variances (especially in material cost, labor efficiency, and scrap).

Prepare margin analysis by product line and customer, leveraging cost structure insights.

5. Generate Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Financial Reports

Distribute plant performance KPIs (e.g., gross margin %, scrap rate, production costs/unit).

Track and report capital expenditures against approved budgets.

Summarize financial impact of production downtime or material shortages.

Operational and Compliance Duties

6. Ensure Compliance with Internal Controls and Company Policies

Implement and monitor internal controls for purchasing, inventory, and financial approvals.

Maintain audit-ready documentation and support both internal and external audit processes.

Document SOPs for accounting processes related to the extrusion manufacturing cycle.

7. Support ERP and System Integrity

Maintain item master data related to standard costs and accounting codes.

Coordinate system upgrades or implementations with IT and operations teams.

Ensure accurate interfacing between production modules and financial modules.

Cross-Functional Collaboration and Leadership

8. Collaborate with Operations and Supply Chain

Participate in daily production meetings to understand cost drivers and operational variances.

Review and validate purchase price variance reports with procurement.

Advise plant managers on financial impact of scheduling decisions, outsourcing, or machine downtime.

9. Mentor Junior Accountants and Clerks

Review journal entries, reconciliations, and reports prepared by junior staff.

Train team members on cost accounting principles and plant accounting procedures.

Act as liaison between corporate finance and plant accounting team.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS



1. Proficient time management in a fast-paced environment.

2. CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) is a plus but not required.

3. Effective communication skills for interactions with vendors and internal teams.

4. Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reporting.

5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

6. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks, SAP and Excel.

7. 5 t08 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in accounts payable and accounts receivable.

8. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.

Physical Requirements



9. Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a desk or computer.

10. Manual dexterity for typing and document control.

11. Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds (for filing documents and organizing materials).

12. Occasional bending and reaching.

13. May require extending hours during month end closing or special projects.

Pay: $50,281.49 - $60,371.25 per year
