Job Description



The Sr. Accountant is responsible for keeping the accounting and financial processes of the company up to standard, ensuring accurate financial reporting and control and supporting the day-to-day activities of our small accounting and finance team. The candidate must be an organized professional with a great eye for detail and able to carry out tasks autonomously and collaboratively. The Sr. Accountant will report to the CFO.

Responsibilities:



Monthly closing process and financial reporting. Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to the CFO. Analyze and investigate variances, collaborating with departments' staff as needed.

Systems responsibility for QuickBooks Online and other Software. Ability to learn new software applications as needed.

Oversight of payroll function and reporting.

Maintenance of a tight system of internal controls with appropriate approval processes and segregation of duties

Budgeting and forecasting as needed by CFO.

Manage Staff, as applicable

General Accounting. Perform and supervise all accounting operations, including A/R, A/P, bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliation and maintenance.

Annual Audit. Provide work papers for the annual audit process with oversight from the CFO. Coordinate audit information requests.

Grants documentation, analysis, financial support

Essential Job Requirements



Ten years of progressive accounting experience with at least 2 years in a non-profit Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting etc.) Excellent knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Understanding of data analysis and forecasting Well-organized with ability to prioritize Attention to detail and problem-solving ability Strong work ethic and team player High degree of professionalism Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills Decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills Bachelor's degree

REQUIRED

, preferably in accounting or business management
Skilled in financial software and tools, including QuickBooks Online, Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides), Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, spreadsheeting skills in both Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel

Working Conditions


May work around standard office conditions. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. Must have valid driver's license. Must have reliable transportation. Must be able to lift 40 lbs. Background check may be required.
