Job Description

We are seeking a responsible and vigilant Security Officer to join our team. The position is at a private school, where the officer will be responsible for patrolling the premises and ensuring the safety of all students, teachers, and staff.

This opening is from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, three days per week (exact days TBD).

By joining the team, you will also be eligible to work additional hours at this and other locations on an as-needed basis, primarily in and around Essex County (e.g., Livingston, the Oranges, Montclair, Morris Plains).

Duties

Maintain a fixed post and/or patrol hallways and perimeter on foot. Monitor assigned areas to ensure safety and security. Screen visitors and direct them to the correct locations. Observe and report any security incidents or suspicious activity. Respond promptly to alarms, incidents, or emergencies. Enforce policies and procedures related to safety and security protocols.

Skills

Previous security, loss prevention, law enforcement, and/or military experience is strongly preferred. Strong conflict management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure are needed. Excellent observational skills and attention to detail are essential for this role. Timeliness, dependability, and trustworthiness are critical.

Additional Requirements

You must be able to stay on your feet for the majority of the time if needed (seating is provided for downtime). You must have reliable transportation to the client site; having your own vehicle is strongly preferred.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
