(3) Active Montgomery County local fire and rescue department volunteers with at least 50 points under the length of service award program

(LOSAP); or

(4) Active Project SEARCH Interns or former Montgomery County Customized Employment Public Interns, or Project SEARCH Interns within 24

months of completion of internship.

WHO WE ARE




The Security Services Division is a component of the Montgomery County Department of Police. Our primary responsibility is to provide daily, direct security services to County facilities and employees.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR




The Division is currently looking for a Senior Security professional to work in the capacity of a Corporal who is ready to lead, coordinate, and mentor a group of Security Officers at Progress Place. Progress Place is a Montgomery County-owned facility in Silver Spring that provides essential services to individuals experiencing homelessness and


other human service issues. It houses three primary programs: Shepherd's Table, Interfaith Works, and Mobile Med. These programs offer meals, case management, medical care, clothing, and housing support. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, sound judgment, and a proactive approach to safety and security.


As a Corporal assigned to Progress Place, you will play a critical role in working with the assigned Sergeant to maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for clients, staff, and volunteers. This is a permanent assigned post with primary hours Monday through Friday requiring strong leadership, sound judgment, and a compassionate approach to working with vulnerable populations.

This is senior level security work in the guidance and leadership of Security Officers assigned to Progress Place Provides recommendations for changes in procedures as necessary. Mentors and provides on-the-job training to Security Officers. Monitor and respond to incidents involving clients, staff, or the public. Ensures Security Officers are in proper uniform and ensures they are properly equipped with security

equipment.

Reports factual information concerning security incidents to law enforcement/emergency services

personnel; may control the scene until the arrival of law enforcement/emergency services personnel.

Confronts individuals who cause disturbances in buildings, offices, or other public facilities and issues Performs related duties as required. Duties listed are not meant to be all-encompassing

Minimum Qualifications

Experience:

Three (3) years experience in security work involving multiple facilities and buildings.

Education:

Completion of high school or High School Certificate of completion recognized in the State of Maryland

Equivalency:

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

LICENSE:

Possession and maintenance at all times of a valid Class "C" (or equivalent) driver's license from the applicant's state of residence.


Preferred Criteria, Interview Preferences

Experience working in Montgomery County MD security. Experience working as security in environments such as homeless shelters, crisis intervention centers, or facilities supporting at-risk individuals. Experience providing customer service. Experience using computer software applications and writing reports. Experience utilizing security systems, to include CCTV/video, access control, and alarm notification software.
