JOB SUMMARY
The Security Officer at Meydenbauer Center is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of employees , guests, building and equipment through observational and situational awareness of activity throughout the facility. This position also monitors and operates the building security and fire/life safety systems. The Security Officer maintains logs of shift duties, lost & found property, incoming and outbound freight, and visitors/contractors. He/she also monitors compliance with local laws and agreements and completes detailed and accurate incident reports. The Security Officer provides exemplary customer service when interacting with facility directors and managers, coworkers, vendors, guests, event managers and the public throughout the work shift.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Interacts with clients, guests, and department managers/supervisors to ensure a safe and secure event atmosphere.
Responds to fire alarms, employee and guest medical situations, and other emergencies, as well as non-emergency guest and employee requests for assistance.
Monitors building fire alarm system immediately responds to system troubles and alarms and enables/disables detection devices and making public address announcements as needed.
Conduct regular foot patrols of entire facility including exterior perimeter, event spaces, parking garage, administrative offices and storage/mechanical areas. Locks and unlocks interior and exterior doors as required, turns interior lighting on and off as needed, and posts event-related signage throughout facility.
Looks for and reports any safety hazards, suspicious activity, facility damage or items in need of repair.
Communicates in person, in writing and over the phone in a timely fashion as needed. Monitors event compliance with established fire codes.
Maintains department log sheets, facility surveys, and receiving documents.
Receives, records, and secures lost and found inventory.
Writes, edits and distributes Accident/Incident Reports. Receives, logs, secures, and delivers both Meydenbauer Center and event-related freight. Issues and receives keys, radios and other necessary equipment to facility staff.
Assists with both pedestrian and vehicle traffic in and around Meydenbauer Center as necessary.
Always maintains efficient storage and accessible paths of travel through loading dock.
Provides traffic control and direction in parking areas when needed.
Sweeps loading dock and maintains clean Security Officer
Other duties as directed by Security Supervisor.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
One year of experience in a customer service or Security Officer position.
Other equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with freight shipping and receiving procedures is desirable.
Work effectively under pressure and maintain a high level of professionalism.
Ability to accurately handle a multitude of details and work within a fast-paced, deadline- driven environment.
Knowledgeable in the use of equipment such as fire/life safety devices and master control panel. Operational knowledge of forklift, vertical lifts and pallet jack is desirable.
Experience investigating incidents and generating reports
Membership in related professional organization with certification program.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in doors in an office environment utilizing standard office equipment including personal computer and associated software and peripherals. The employee may be occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions. The employee frequently is required walk, frequently ascending and descending stairs and may be required to stand for extended periods of time. He/she is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

POSITION TYPE / WORK SCHEDULE
This is a full-time or part-time position. The standard shift for this position is determined based on business needs. At times, the Security Officer may be required to work holidays. Hours range from 10pm-6am, 6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm.
