Basic Statement of Responsibilities


---------------------------------------


The Willowbrook Woods Security Guard is responsible for security services at the Willowbrook Woods student housing complex located next to the Allegany College of Maryland campus; control and monitor the daily flow of traffic entering and exiting the student housing complex.


Essential Functions


-----------------------


1. Work at the Willowbrook Woods Student Housing gatehouse and checks identification of people entering and exiting the property.


2. Contact on-call staff member or Police/Fire department in the event of emergency.


3. Respond to emergencies (i.e. fire suppression, first aid, CPR, AED, Naloxone/Narcan).


4. Perform inspection and provide written documentation of all outside lighting, including emergency and exit lights and parking lot lights.


5. Ensure key security and control at gatehouse.


6. Report violations of Willowbrook Woods rules and regulations and Allegany College of Maryland Code of Student Conduct violations.


7. Complete daily documentation (i.e. daily log book, key log, incident report, visitor registration log).


8. Train new guards, as needed.

Secondary




1. Snow removal/shoveling at Gatehouse, as needed.


2. Work as Main Campus Security Guard, when assigned.


3. Other duties as assigned.


Education, Experience, and Specialized Skills

High School Diploma or G.E.D required. AA in Criminal Justice or related field and/or experience in law enforcement preferred. Training required or will be provided in AED, First Aid/CPR, and Naloxone/Narcan.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


------------------------------------

Ability to respond quickly to incidents and de-escalate or call appropriate personnel for assistance. Ability to read, understand and follow Gatehouse manual, Emergency procedures, and color code safety procedures. Experience working with diverse student populations strongly preferred. Knowledge of mental health issues and resources preferred.

Worker's Compensation:

An employee in any type of position at the college is covered by worker's compensation insurance when he or she is involved in a work-related accident. Worker's compensation insurance covers medical care, rehabilitation and lost wages for employees or death benefits for the employee's dependents, according to the specific terms of the insurance policy

Tuition Waiver:

(Employees contracted for a minimum of 750 hours for the current fiscal year and who has accumulated at least 750 hours via previous service are eligible for tuition waivers for credit courses offered by ACM.)

Professional Development Opportunities:

All employees are welcome to participate in College sponsored professional development activities.

Sick and Safe Leave

- Part-time employees who will regularly work 12 or more hours per week will earn paid sick and safe leave. Eligible part-time employees will earn 1 hour of sick and safe leave for every 30 hours that they work. Part-time employees may accrue up to 40 hours of sick and safe leave in a fiscal year, carryover a balance of 40 hours per year; sick and safe leave hours are limited to earning and accruing up to 64 hours per year.

Holidays

- Part-time employees may enjoy the 17 official college holidays, however they will not be compensated for these days.

Bereavement Leave:

Eligible part-time employees are provided paid leave of up to three normally scheduled work days for the death of an immediate family member.

Military

- part-time employees who are in the uniformed services can take accrued annual, or leave without pay, to serve in
the uniformed services.

Family and Medical Leave

- FMLA entitles eligible employees to take up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave in a rolling 12-month period measured backward from the date an employee uses any FMLA leave for specified family and medical reasons.

Flexible Spending Accounts

- Employees can obtain a medical reimbursement account and/or a dependent care assistance account effective the first of the month following the employee's date of hire. Employees do not need to enroll in the college's medical or dental plan to be eligible for flexible spending accounts.

Supplemental Retirement Accounts -

All employees who normally work 20 hours or more per week can make tax-deferred supplemental retirement contributions to any of the supplemental retirement funds offered by the college.

College Facility Usage

- Allegany College of Maryland's facilities include, the Fitness Center, which includes treadmills, bikes, ellipticals, rowing
machines, hand weights, big weights, nautilus equipment, gymnasium, and outside tracks, which include the mile track and the quarter mile track. Allegany College of Maryland's students and staff have full access to these facilities. The fitness centers hours of operation vary. Learning Commons:

The Learning Commons is home to the Library, Testing, and Tutoring services; providing a welcoming, supportive space for faculty and staff, students and community. Hours of operation can be found on our website.

Campus Cafe:

Allegany College of Maryland Dining Services are provided by Metz Culinary Management. Located in the College Center, our restaurant atmosphere with a special flare of home offers a variety of tastes for all guests. Quality, nutritious menus are available. Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

- Employees and their household members can access up to seven (7) free, confidential sessions at UPMC-Western Maryland or Bedford-Somerset DBHS to help with family, personal or professional problems: or they may visit the ACM onsite counselor
with unlimited sessions.

Nurse Managed Wellness Clinic (NMWC)

- The NMWC supports health and wellness through education with the goal that all individuals become informed self-directed consumers of health care. We offer services provided by a team of healthcare professionals and managed by a Certified Nurse Practitioner. A list of services and hours of operation can be found at NMWC. *

Wellbeing Services provided by Select Allied Health Programs

- Dental Hygiene services for Adults and Children are provided by our Dental Hygiene Students in ACM's Dental Hygiene Clinic. All students are supervised by Dental Hygiene Faculty. Hours vary, check the website at Dental Hygiene Clinics. Massage Therapy appointments are available and provided by our Massage Therapy Students in ACM's Massage Therapy Clinic. Hours vary.
