Job Description

Position Summary:

Provides security for patients, visitors, employees, and property.

Position Accountabilities:

1. To work within the established department's policies and procedures for assurance and safety.

2. Provide administration with a copy of all incident reports.

3. Maintain a quality shift report.

4. Perform security checks through the hospital and all hospital property.

5. Provide security in the parking lot at shift changes.

6. Secure all exit doors after PM shift change. Unlock all exit doors prior to AM shift change.

7. Assist all law enforcement agencies when in the hospital.

8. Answer all disturbance calls within the hospital or on hospital property.

9. To assist nurse stations with patients or patient's family.

10. Ensure all emergency lanes are open.

11. Performs all other duties as directed.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Previous security experience in a hospital setting preferred.

Required Certification/Registration: Minimum: CLEET certified.

Skills: Excellent knowledge of security protocols. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work alone or part of a team. Ability to solve problems as they arrive. Attention to detail. Ability to react appropriately in stressful situations.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Working Conditions: May be exposed to a variety of healthcare settings, including clinical, office or maintenance environments. Stressful, pressure, and frustrations related to ill patients and stressed family. Subject to exposure to all environmental hazards associated with hospital work.
