MSAD 6 is seeking a dynamic Secondary Teacher (Extended Learning Opportunities Educator) to join the instructional staff at Bonny Eagle High School in Standish, Maine, for the 2023-2024 school year. The successful candidate will have experience as a community outreach coordinator and will be willing to continue our valued cooperative education program, while building additional pathways to student success beyond the classroom. The position will support student success through the creation of authentic community partnerships with local businesses and organizations in which students may acquire credit towards graduation for approved and monitored learning opportunities outside the traditional classroom. This may include work positions, internships, community projects, and student self-designed learning opportunities. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching pre-employment workplace skills, business etiquette, access, and resume building in a classroom setting half of the day and community outreach the other half of the day. This position will participate in the C3 community forums, visit work sites, building business partnerships, and research additional extended learning opportunities for our High School students (grades 11 and 12). Further, the successful candidate will create a flexible instructional program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establish effective rapport with students assigned to the classroom; motivate pupils to develop attitudes and knowledge needed to ensure that effective learning occurs for each child; and respond to a wide range of inquiries from students\' parents or guardians regarding instructional programs and student progress.

Applicants for this position must have degree(s) required in major area of study; Maine Department of Education certification in content area (all secondary teaching endorsements will be considered); experience related to the instruction of students of similar age and in the subject area(s) to be assigned; demonstrated positive, professional relationships with students and colleagues; and evidence of a strong desire to work with school-age youth.
