Examples of Duties NATURE OF WORK: SEASONAL ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Supervises participants in activity area and warming shelter.
Maintains a safe playing atmosphere.
Opens and closes the facility.
Disarms alarm system where applicable.
Calculate and collect concession fee from patrons using proper transaction and cash handling policies and procedures; record additional transactions as needed.
Prepare food in a safe and clean manner and maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety with food preparation, equipment, and dispensers.
Sell and stock concession products. Serve concessions and maintain concession area(s) cleanliness in accordance to Health Department guidelines.
Reconcile money at the start and end of shift; complete associated paperwork.
Perform start-up and take-down of concession related equipment.
Completes weekly deposits at drop off at appropriate location.
Records accurate attendance numbers, accident reports, concession sales, etc.
Administers first aid when necessary.
Supervises and trains employees.
Perform any other duties as assigned by Recreation Programmer.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Maintain good communication with other staff members.
Communicate clearly and effectively with patrons.
Attend all required staff meetings and trainings.
Work closely with the Parks and Recreation Department staff to ensure all department rules and policies are observed.
Shall wear distinctive clothing or other means of identification per the City of Appleton dress code.
Maintain a clean, safe environment free of hazards in concession area, inside building, and on sledding hills and ice rinks.
Report any concession, cleaning, or repair needs to Recreation Supervisor.
Typical Qualifications
Minimum completion of three years of high school.
Have experience and/or ability in working with money.
Ability to make general arithmetic computations accurately and with reasonable speed.
Ability to work with varied age groups, including children.
Physically capable of performing and demonstrating program related activities.
Able to work duration of the program as assigned by supervisor.
Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow staff members and the public in a courteous and tactful manner.
Ability to enforce City of Appleton policies and procedures.
Shall wear Parks and Recreation staff uniform per the City of Appleton dress code.
Work nights and/ or weekends.
Work at multiple sites.
May be required to work by themselves in certain situations.
