Job Overview
Objective The Screen Printer Operator is responsible for supporting the company's in-house customization production to successfully customize and produce final product for customers and accounts.
Education and Experience
REQUIRED: 2+ years of Screen Printing experience in running, operating, and troubleshooting screen printing equipment, including single and multi-head units
Preferred: Experience with automatic or manual screen-printing machines (e.g., Rapid Tag) HS Diploma or equivalent
Position Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Examine work orders to determine estimated printing times, ink, and material quantities
Prepare and mix inks to meet specific color standards for screen printing, following formulas, measuring pigments, and ensuring desired viscosity and shade consistency
Operate single and multiple color jobs to ensure optimal print quality on manual or automatic machines
Load screen into printer; install and reposition screen-printing plates and pressure roles
Manage multiple print jobs at one time and produce at a fast rate of speed, while maintaining high quality standards and meeting production deadlines
Conduct quality checks throughout the printing process and troubleshoot problems as they arise
Inspect merchandise against order specifications
Accountable for sample print approval
Perform routine and preventive maintenance of machines and equipment, including meticulous cleaning of parts and troubleshooting as needed, to ensure equipment operates at peak performance, minimizing downtime
Manage the startup and shutdown of printing equipment
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace, adhering to safety protocols to promote a productive work environment
Duties
Operate and maintain printing equipment, ensuring optimal performance and quality output.
Review job orders and specifications to determine the appropriate printing processes and materials needed.
Collaborate with graphic designers to ensure that designs are print-ready, making adjustments as necessary.
Utilize software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) for layout design and preparation of print files.
Implement color theory principles to achieve accurate color reproduction in printed materials.
Oversee the entire print production process, including setup, operation, and finishing tasks such as cutting and binding.
Conduct quality checks throughout the printing process to ensure consistency and adherence to standards.
Stay updated on industry trends in digital design, typography, and motion graphics to enhance production capabilities.
Qualifications and Competencies
Proven experience in screen printing, screen making, and reclaiming processes
Must have experience working with silicone inks, color mixing; ability to accurately distinguish colors
Ability to follow order instructions, and other printing-related tasks
Ability to manage work independently on multiple projects and adherence to strict deadlines
Ability to work collaboratively within a team setting and across departments
Strong mechanical aptitude for effective troubleshooting and equipment maintenance.
Attention to detail and well organized
Knowledge of basic math and computer skills
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Able to lift, carry, push, pull 30-40 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally; standing required throughout the day.
