PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Laboratory of Human Retrovirology and Immunoinformatics (LHRI), Applied and Developmental Research Directorate, consists of three sections (Basic Research, Clinical/Translational Research, and Bioinformatics) and has investigated HIV pathogenesis. We have been studying the mechanism of drug resistance and viral fitness in people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) and Innate immune responses against RNA or DNA virus infection under contract with NIAID/NIH. Our research aims to understand the mechanism of HIV infection and persistent immune activation during antiretroviral therapy and develop novel therapies to support NIAID clinical studies for PLWHA.
Recently LHRI has started a collaboration with NIAID for analysis of the function of defective proviral HIV (DOI: 10.1073/pnas., DOI: 10.1073/pnas.) and seeks a productive and creative scientist who has worked on HIV or RNA virus infection assay and T cell immunology to conduct the defective proviral study.
