Sewickley Academy is seeking to hire a School Counselor (Grades Pre-K \xe2\x80\x93 12). The School Counselor works with the students of Sewickley Academy to offer social and emotional support as it relates to learning and the school environment. The School Counselor will address minor issues, which impact learning and social/emotional needs while at school and refer to outside resources as necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Meet with students on an as needed, individual, or small group basis
  • Consult with parents/guardians at any time, concerning the needs of their child
  • Collaborate with the school administration to develop policies that help identify and support students\' behavioral, emotional, and social needs
  • Maintain a high regard for the privacy and confidentiality of information collected or recorded about individuals with whom they work
  • Develop school-based programs to support the psychological well-being (emotional, social, etc.) of students within the context of the school community
  • Collaborate with administrators, teachers, and learning specialists to develop plans that adequately and appropriately accommodate a child\'s documented needs
  • Educate the faculty and administration on components of the school counseling program, roles and responsibilities of the school counselor, and ways in which faculty and administration can utilize the counseling program on behalf of students
  • Establish and communicate expectations faculty, staff, and families should have for the program
  • Evaluate the counseling program in conjunction with administration to measure the program\'s support of and effect on the school\'s mission, student well-being, family, student, faculty and administration satisfaction, student retention, and institutional sustainability
  • Lead students and faculty to assess and proactively address social, emotional and behavioral issues that may arise within the school community
  • Support and initiate efforts to sponsor community-wide professional learning opportunities concerning student and faculty mental health and wellness
  • Demonstrate a desire for constant professional and personal growth by regularly participating in and seeking out professional learning opportunities
  • Promote school life by sponsoring student clubs and activities and serving on academic committees
Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in Psychology, School Counseling or related field. Master\'s Degree preferred
  • Professional certification in an accredited field (e.g., social work, psychology, counseling, etc.)
  • Current state licensure in the field of certification (e.g. PA certification in K-12 School Counseling, LCSW, LPC, etc.)
  • Licensed School counselor
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with Comprehensive School Counseling Programs (Indiana Gold Star, RSC, ASCA RAMP, etc.).
