School Bus & Van Attendant (Anne Arundel County Public Schools)

will monitor the activities of special education students while on buses / vans in route to and from school. Bus/Van Attendants prepare students to board buses or vans; ensure that students are in their seats; maintain order on buses; render other assistance when necessary. Bus / Van Attendants also ensure the student's well-being and safety while traveling on the bus or van and aiding students. Monitor students and daily school bus/van activities to ensure proper conduct and adherence to proper behavior standards. Deal with exuberant behavior characteristics of youthful riders. Instruct students for the purpose of enforcing rules/regulations and maintaining student safety and well-being. Learn established bus / van routes. Observe and track route timing in order to provide accurate schedules. Communicate with parents regarding pick-up and drop-off schedule, when needed. Reports observations and/or incidents (e.g., discipline, inappropriate social behavior) for the purpose of communicating information to appropriate personnel for their action. Working in conjunction with bus / van driver to ensure student safety and maintenance of a positive environment during transport. Maintain effective communications and working relationships with bus / van driver, students and parents.

EXCELLENT ATTENDANCE IS A MUST
