In this role, you will assist in the supervision and management of before school, after school, and track-out programs within the School-Based Programs Division of Youth Programs. You'll plan and implement recreation-based activities for youth ages 5-12 ranging from sports and games to arts and creative projects.

About Us:
The City of Raleigh Parks School-Based Programs Division serves the community by providing high-quality out-of-school time childcare for youth ages 5-12. We operate both year-round and traditional calendar school programs, ensuring that all school-age children have access to safe, engaging, and enriching experiences outside of the classroom.
Our team includes 13 full-time staff and more than 75 part-time staff, working across 4 Track Out Program sites and Before and After School locations. Together, we are dedicated to creating meaningful experiences that support youth development, strengthen families, and build community.

Supervision and Management:
You will assist in supervising a team of part-time staff who look to you for coaching, training and inspiration as they directly lead the program each day.

Our patrons, stakeholders, co-workers, and participants will all look to you to provide exceptional customer service. This means making people feel seen heard, and safe-while also setting clear, consistent expectations that build trust and confidence.
Flexibility and Creativity:
No two days are ever the same when working with youth! We're looking for someone who is flexible, adaptable, and ready to thrive in a dynamic environment. This position requires a variable schedule Monday-Friday between 6:45 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., along with occasional after-hours and Saturday events.
This role requires a valid driver's license, or the ability to obtain with 60 days of hire, as the incumbent will need to purchase program supplies and drive between sites for occasional participant transportation
Typical Qualifications

Education and Experience:
High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency; 1 to 3 years' experience in childcare, recreation activity supervision, customer service, or related work
OR
Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted
Licensing and Certifications:
Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's license with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications:
3 years or more of experience working with youth
Youth Program experience
Staff management experience

Work Environment and Physical Effort:

Work is typically performed in an office or similar indoor setting. Employees may occasionally work in an outdoor environment or in a vehicle.
