Job Description

Responsible for scheduling, organizing and coordinating the Infusion Schedule for chemotherapy and non chemotherapy infusions, transfusions, injections and Central Line placement with healthcare providers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Procures all necessary information to allow pre-registration of the patient and insurance verification on pre-authorization for infusions Reviews the prescription and ensure that the medication, dose, frequency, diagnostic code, prior authorization, physician signature, labs, diagnostics, history and physical, medication reconciliation and demographics are all in the EMR prior to scheduling an appointment. Coordinates schedule, pre-authorization and insurance verification responsibilities based on patient/physician request, availability of appointment times and availability of staff. Provides accurate information on patient preparation requirements and any special instructions to assure minimal inconvenience to the patient.. Enters scheduling data and information into the EMR when scheduling a patient appointment, notifies the ordering provider and the patient of the scheduled/rescheduled appointment. Ensures all sequential appointments per the providers prescription. Reschedules cancelled or no-show appointments. Notify provider if patient misses an appointment. Meets emergency demands of the providers with patience and understanding. Shows interest and enthusiasm in work tasks with consideration of time and patient care. Demonstrates the ability to work independently. Remains available and flexible to changes in the workplace and willing to learn new techniques and skills within his or her profession. Maintains a clean safe environment. Provides monthly statistics on volume of infusion patients distinguishing chemotherapy versus non chemotherapy. Takes initiative to ensure that patient's needs are met in a timely and professional manner. Communicates last minute add on patients to registration and pharmacy to ensure the insurance verification as well as making sure we have the medication to administer to the patient. Collaborates with multiple health care professionals.

Education

: Vocational/Technical degree with Medical Terminology preferred

Certification:

CPR required

Experience:

1 year Medical experience required.

Additional Experience Preferred



Medical experience in oncology, diagnostic testing preferred Effective communication skills in person and answering the phone in a calm professional tone. Organizational experience Working knowledge of the EMR and basic office equipment. Insurance knowledge * Proficient in scheduling tool.
