Job Title: Scale Operator (Full Time / Part Time)

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Hours: Production Season Off-Production Season

Monday - Friday 6:30 AM - 6:00 PM Monday - Friday 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Saturday 7:30 AM - 1:00 PM Saturday As Needed

The Scale Operator position will:

Be responsible for

Duties and Responsibilities:

1.

Maintain a safe a safety conscious work place

2.

Maintain and ensure friendly and efficient services to all customers

3.

Follow pre-established scale procedures

4.

Preview/review all daily orders/information received by email, hard copy or other means

5.

Direct customers to correct material using radio communication and/or pit maps

6.

Compute total purchase and receive and process cash, check or credit sales

7.

Know the identification of all aggregate/compost materials, product codes and truck types

8.

Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with co-workers and other employees to promote quality image and pleasant working environment

9.

Provide back up for other scale or office personnel

10.

Maintain a clean work environment

11.

Ensure all tickets have accurate information

12.

Provide customer care while accurately and swiftly completing sales transactions

13.

Needs to be aware of what is going on around them

14.

Fulfill A/R support requests, ie: email lost tickets

15.

Follows all M.S.H.A. guidelines and educates site visitors

16.

Reports accidents/near misses to Supervisor

17.

Serves as First Responder

18.

Complete all other duties assigned by Superior(s)

Physical Requirements:

Work involving regular sitting, standing, walking, crouching, stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and carrying heavy objects up to 50 lbs

Normal hearing and vision, with or without correction

Ability to walk and stand on various surfaces, including concrete and uneven and/or slippery terrain for prolonged periods

Language Ability and Interpersonal Communications:

Must have basic human relations skills in talking and/or signaling people to convey basic program information

Basic mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) in completing time and operational reports

Working knowledge of the operating characteristics of facility equipment, potential hazards, and safety precautions in compliance with M.S.H.A. regulations

Ability to read and write numbers, letters and simple sentences

Ability to coordinate eyes, hands, fingers, arms, and legs, and to make a movement response accurately and swiftly, in turning and maneuvering operations

Remaining alert and maintaining concentration for prolonged periods

Maintaining good public relations

Environmental Adaptability

Work is performed in an environment with undesirable conditions: exposure to extreme heat and cold, odors, noise, dust, fumes, moving parts, electrical shock, burns, toxic agents

Occupational hazards such as those generally associated with ongoing exposure to moving machinery/equipment leading to cuts, bruises, burns, strains, back injuries, and potentially more serious injuries

A drug test and pre-employment physical required. Subject to random alcohol and drug testing while employed
