Metals USA - Gregor Technologies Division is seeking a Saw Operator in Torrington, CT. Metals USA is a solid, growth oriented aluminum/stainless steel distribution center The Plant Manager is responsible to manage and develop the front-line supervisors and hourly employees.
The Saw Operator is responsible for stocking incoming material and for the set up and operation of material cutting machines.
Responsibilities:
Receives deliveries of all raw materials and verifies materials received to the packing slip; forwards completed paperwork to purchasing in a timely manner.
Stocks and labels all materials per procedures.
Sets up and operates all cutoff machines properly, as well as circular saw cut-off machines. Cut material to specified dimensions with minimum or no supervision.
Manages cutting of raw material to support production schedules.
Selects the proper material for the specific job and measure work for conformance to specifications.
Performs daily scheduled maintenance as prescribed company procedures.
Completes production paperwork, follows shop system data collection procedures and follows inspection procedures on a daily basis.
Maintains work areas in a clean, orderly and safe manner to include returning tools to designated areas.
Notifies management of product discrepancies or equipment malfunctions, and or personal injuries.
Adheres to established company policies and procedures paying special attention to safety regulations.
Adheres to Reliance Steel and Aluminum's Code of Conduct as well as customer confidentiality requirements.
Regular and predictable attendance is required to perform the duties of a saw operator.
Wears personal protective equipment in accordance with training guidelines.
Performs other related duties as assigned
Certifications/Licenses:
Valid OSHA Forklift certification
Physical Demands:
Occupation requires physical activity more than 66% of the time (> 5.5 hours per day)
Stand, walk, sit, handling/fingering, reach outward, reach above shoulder, climb, squat or kneel or bend
Lift, carry, push and/or pull 51 - 100 lbs. with assistance
Other Physical Requirements:
Must wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE)
Steel-toed boots
Hard hats with chin straps; chin straps must be worn at all times in the warehouse.
Protective eyewear
Hand protection
Arm guards/sleeves
Hearing protection if required by the hearing conservation program
Work Environment:
May be exposed to some of the following working conditions.
Working inside of a warehouse
Moderate to loud environment
Vibration
Oils, dust, fumes and metallic particles
Day and night shifts
Requirements: High School Graduate or Equivalent
Ability to communicate oral and written effectively to both internal and external customers
Must have mechanical aptitude and math skills
Must have measuring skills, both standard & metric using a measuring tape, caliper or micrometer
Must be able to read and interpret Blue Prints
Must be organized with attention to detail
Completes production paperwork, follows shop system production procedures and follows inspection procedures daily
