The Sanitation Supervisor oversees all sanitation efforts within the facility. This role ensures sanitation standards are compliant with OSHA, USDA, FDA, AAFCO and SQF regulations and that company cleanliness for food safety and safety standards are met.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures compliance with all company and regulatory product quality standards, sanitation standards, food safety standards, employee safety and environmental standards
Create a work environment that reflects a commitment to protecting the health and safety of employees, food safety and quality of products
Lead and motivate sanitation teams for plant operations
Work with plant and quality managers to strategic plans for sanitation across all plants
Identify and implement cost savings in chemical purchases
Lead efforts to identify and implement metrics of success as it relates to sanitation practices
Facilitate and drive goal and objective planning with staff
In conjunction with production management, lead hiring and development processes
Own the process and improvement as it relates to staff performance issues, annual reviews, and staff development
Lead sanitary design efforts for the facilities on new and existing equipment, function as educator of these principles
Lead programs and work with plant and quality management around the facilities including master sanitation schedule, pest control program, environmental swab compliance, and pre-operational swab compliance
Ensure compliance with OSHA, USDA/FDA and SQF standards
Train staff on proper usage of sanitation chemicals, chemical inventories and supplies
Prepares reports regarding inspections, sanitation violations, and corrective actions taken
Recommend changes to improve sanitation policies, procedures and standards
Monitor completed sanitation tasks and cleanliness of plant
Coordinate with maintenance or others as appropriate to solve sanitation-related problems
Investigate all issues and apply corrective actions as needed
Check the completion of the daily sanitation cleaning list and direct team members toward achieving the highest level of efficiency and identifying existing or future sanitation issues
Assist in writing standard operating procedures for work to be performed by the sanitation and production team
Identify and report critical sanitation issues and makes recommendation to correct and control root causes of problems
Work with contracted services representatives for chemicals and or facility repairs
Perform weekly inventory of supplies and chemicals
QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Bachelor's Degree in a related field from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum 4 years' experience in a related leadership role
Minimum 5 years' experience in sanitation principles in a food manufacturing environment
Knowledge of SDS and OSHA chemical usage and storage standards required
Experience handling sanitation chemicals
Excellent math skills including knowledge of liquid measures
Ability to work evening hours (third shift)
Knowledge of various chemicals used in the sanitation process
Good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize
Ability to supervise employees and lead by example
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Must be able to work in a climate that varies in temperature
Bilingual skills (Eng/Spanish) preferred
