POSITION PURPOSE:
The function of the Sanitation Supervisor is to provide production, warehouse, maintenance, and purchasing departments with support and direction in: cleaning procedures and techniques, use of sanitation related equipment, cost reduction, pest control, employee training and product safety.

Directly supervising Sanitation Department employees and the sanitation budget.
Indirectly supervises production cleanup crews and outside custodial contractors to insure facilities are maintained.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

Essential Functions:
A. Assures compliance with the company sanitation guidelines as well as assuring compliance with the Customer, the State and Federal Laws and Guidelines.
B. Establish and maintain appropriate relationships of an external nature, such as with vendors, as a basis for evaluated performance and economics applicable to equipment and chemicals.
C. Prepare and monitor the indirect labor and supply portions of the Sanitation Department\'s yearly budget.
D. Supervise and direct a qualified staff of custodial personnel both in-house and outside contractors.
E. Observe conditions pertaining to the plant environment and evaluate the degree of compliance to specifications for cleanliness.

F. Develop and conduct efficient training techniques for the development of the first line management employees as well as the hourly employees.
H. Create an environment that encourages BOS in your department.
I. SPC Responsibilities for Managers and Supervisors
- As a member of the leadership team, your participation in the continuous improvement process is expected. This includes taking an active role in process improvement initiatives, employee training, utilization of SPC for process improvement and upgrading your current skill base.

Other Job Functions:
A. Maintain a system of records, which pertains to chemical usage and pest control activities.
B. Maintain and monitor pest activity to effectively coordinate efforts a licensed pest control operator in pest control and pesticide application.
C. Maintain and monitor outside custodial contractors for quality of service.

Education:

Associates Degree or currently enrolled in accredited college/university in pursuant of Associates Degree is required.

Authority:
Position does not carry any authority for decision making without conferring with supervisors with authority to take appropriate measures.

Extended Training:
a. Knowledge and understanding of Excel, Access and Infinity QS System
b. Knowledge of integrated pest management
c. Knowledge of food processing sanitation and personal hygiene
d. Knowledge of HACCP preparation and procedures
e. Knowledge of training techniques
f. Must be certified and maintain certification at the Hazardous Material Technician level.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITIES
A. Knowledge and experience in all facets of cleaning and sanitation of a food processing facility.
B. Must have a working knowledge of the Good Manufacturing Procedures (GMP) for a food processing facility.
C. Must have basic knowledge of pest control and pesticide application.
D. Must have basic knowledge of microbiology.
E. Must seek to further knowledge of most current techniques and trend in the sanitation field.
