Cook's ACE Hardware located at Gray Plaza Shopping Center in Gray, Maine has been faithfully serving the local community since 1956. We take great pride in our store's product assortment, high touch customer service, and the reputation and trust we've established.
We are hiring additional Sales Associates to become part of this store's expanding team as we move into an exciting next chapter. Under new ownership, this store is undergoing some changes. We'll preserve what is great, while simultaneously adding a Garden Center, making improvements to our Contractor and B2B service offerings, as well as improving product assortment and store tidiness.
Responsibilities
As a Sales Associate, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the store's success by skillfully assisting customers, handling daily operational duties and enjoying some camaraderie and fun along the way. You will be responsible for identifying customer needs, recommending products that match their requirements, as well as restocking shelves, handling cash register sales and other support roles.
Provide prompt, friendly and knowledgeable assistance to customers, helping them find the products they need. Offer expert advice on hardware, tools, outdoor equipment, lawn & garden, plumbing, electrical, and more.
Assist with inventory as directed by store management, including keeping product displays organized, restocking shelves, repricing products and ensuring accurate scans at checkout.
Maintain the store as clean and organized. This includes tidying shelves, wiping displays, sweeping floors, exterior yard organization and maintaining a safe and welcoming retail environment.
Support promotional activities and sales events by setting up displays and providing information to customers about ongoing offers and discounts.
Obtain and maintain service qualifications and credentials such as propane/kerosene dispensing, forklift operator, or delivery truck operator as may be directed by store management.
Participate in various ACE training programs to earn badges in specializations, including BBQ, Tools, Plant Prodigy, Outdoor Equipment, Lawn & Garden, Plumbing, Electrical, and Hardware. Stay updated on the latest product knowledge to assist customers effectively.
Participate in bonus programs linked to increasing your knowledge as well as store performance targets that you can directly influence. These include factors such as Overall Customer Satisfaction Rating, Online Fulfillment timeliness, Rewards Scan Rate, Mobile App downloads, Skill Badge achievements and more.
Qualifications - Educational, Technical, Physical and Interpersonal
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Previous retail sales or customer service experience in hardware, lumber, home improvement or similar is a plus, but not required. Company to provide comprehensive ongoing training for all team members.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills. "Can do" attitude and ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
A clean and groomed appearance, including wearing company provided ACE apparel.
Ability to stand for up to 8 hours per day, lift 50 lbs, squat, climb a 6' step ladder, and perform other physical tasks as needed.
