As a Safety & Security Worker at our Youth Development Care Center, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe and supportive environment for youth in the facility, while also modeling positive behaviors and life skills.
Our new Youth Development Care Center located in Caledonia, WI is a modern, thoughtfully designed facility that reflects our commitment to rehabilitation and safety for both youth and staff.
Shifts:
1st shift: 7am-3pm
2nd shift: 3pm-11pm ($2.00/hr. shift premium)
3rd shift: 11pm-7am(Please note: All shifts may not be available at the time of recruitment. Must be available to work 2nd or 3rd shift)
Key Responsibilities
------------------------
Supervise and care for youth in a secure environment
Model positive behavior, redirect negative conduct, and de-escalate conflict
Ensure physical and emotional safety of youth and staff
Respond to incidents with professionalism and composure, using approved crisis intervention methods
Provide for youth basic needs including meals, hygiene items, bedding, and medical support
Maintain cleanliness and order within the facility
Conduct safety checks, room inspections, and contraband searches
Maintain accurate records: behavior logs, medication administration, incident reports, etc.
Refer youth to appropriate mental health and medical services as needed
Attend required staff meetings and ongoing training
Operate facility equipment (electronic surveillance, radios, laundry, etc.)
Supervision Received
Receives supervision from a Safety & Security Coordinator and Safety & Security Supervisor.
Qualifications
------------------
High school diploma or GED equivalency
At least 21 years of age
No disqualifying criminal convictions
Ability to pass a Wisconsin caregiver background check and drug screening
Prior experience working with youth preferred
Must maintain residential phone availability
Pass certification in the use of a self contained breathing apparatus
Successfully complete the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board "Secure Detention Officer" training (184 hours) during your first year of employment and annual re-certification, which includes rescuing youth in case of fire or disaster, including pulling deadweight (using two-person carrying method, with 35-55 lb. breathing apparatus on back, carrying 120 lb. dummy).
Prompt and regular attendance is required

Physical Requirements
Continuous (67% - 100% of work day) feeling, talking, hearing and far, near, color, peripheral vision. Frequent (34% - 66% of work day) standing, walking, sitting, bending/twisting, reaching, lifting objects weighing 1-20 pounds and carrying objects weighing 1-10 pounds. Occasional (1% - 33% of work day) stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing using legs and feet, lifting objects weighing 21-80 pounds, carrying objects weighing 11-20 pounds, pushing/pulling objects weighing 1-20 pounds or 11-40 pounds on wheels.
