RESPONSIBILITIES




Supervise the daily operations of the hospital's security program and personnel. Assign and monitor tasks such as safety rounds, emergency station checks, and fire drills. Act as the hospital's Safety Officer and coordinate the Emergency Preparedness Plan. Participate in hiring, training, and performance evaluation of Security staff. Manage security-related work orders and access control systems across all hospital facilities.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE




Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED. Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role within Security, Law Enforcement, Fire/Emergency Services, Corrections, or Military settings. Demonstrated conflict resolution and de-escalation skills. Strong knowledge of FEMA Emergency Management and Hospital Incident Command procedures. Required certifications (or ability to obtain within 6 months): IAHSS Supervisor Training Certification, IAHSS Healthcare Safety Certificate, FEMA ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 (ICS 300/400 preferred). Proficient in basic computer functions and security system software. Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills. Ability to read, write, and understand English and follow verbal/written instructions. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to collaborate with others, build consensus, make sound judgments, and gain the trust and endorsement of leaders, peers, and staff. Must be able to manage the use of Access Controls systems, such as badge entry, locks, video-imaging equipment, and associated software.


ENVIRONMENT





South Peninsula Hospital is a 22-bed Critical Access Hospital with an attached 28-bed Long Term Care Unit and a nine-bed designated Level IV Trauma Center. The facility also includes several clinics and office buildings located off the main campus. The Safety & Security Supervisor may work in all of these areas. The working environment, while generally pleasant, requires that this person be able to complete rounds, which consist of extensive walking. Working hours are usually during the day, but may fluctuate, depending on various situations and workload. This position may be required to work at any hour of the day or night to maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff. While primarily a day shift position, it requires flexibility and availability for emergencies during nights and weekends.



Hazards:

Occasional exposure to emotionally charged situations, physical risk during de-escalation, or when responding to emergency incidents may occur.
