Safety Officer - Construction & Field Operations

Based in Lincoln, NE (Travel required)

Safety Officer

to lead and strengthen our safety program across all divisions. This hands-on role is perfect for a field-oriented safety professional who enjoys being out on job sites, engaging crews, and ensuring every employee goes home safely each day.

What You'll Do

Lead CL Construction's overall safety program and promote a culture of accountability, awareness, and continuous improvement. Serve as the

on-site safety professional

at customer job sites, conducting safety walks, audits, and compliance checks. Identify hazards in real time and implement

practical, proactive solutions

to prevent incidents. Conduct frequent job site inspections and share clear, actionable recommendations with supervisors and crews. Partner with project leaders during pre-job planning to ensure risks are identified and mitigated early. Facilitate

monthly safety trainings

and

weekly toolbox talks

that engage and empower employees. Maintain safety compliance documentation across ISNet, Avetta, Great Plains Health & Safety, and other customer platforms. Collaborate with leadership to review and enhance company safety policies and procedures. Support continuous improvement initiatives by tracking safety metrics and sharing best practices across divisions.

What You'll Bring

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field preferred. 4+ years of

construction safety experience

, including job site or field-based work. Strong working knowledge of

OSHA standards and safety compliance

requirements. Prior experience acting as an

on-site safety professional

in construction or industrial environments preferred.

OSHA 30-Hour certification required

; CSP or CHST certification a plus. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Proficiency with safety compliance platforms (ISNet, Avetta, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to train, coach, and influence at all levels. Creative problem-solver with a passion for driving continuous improvement in safety performance.
