Supports proactive, remote pet support services and in-person admissions to foster, adoption, return to owner, and rescue placement. The goal of this role is to assist in identifying outcome and/or placement options for most pets prior to or at the time of intake into the shelter. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively to help move pets through the shelter system efficiently, utilizing foster, rescue, adoption, and return to owner resources. Must be comfortable using various social platforms and learning new technologies. This position reports directly to the Pet Resources Center Intake Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Assists in evaluating animals to help determine placement eligibility.
Helps coordinate intake plans to support the shortest possible length-of-stay (LOS) in the shelter.
Collaborates with rescue placement staff to support transfers of pets with specific placement needs
Works with foster and adoption teams to match pets with individuals or families waiting to adopt or foster.
Prepares and maintains daily, weekly, and monthly records and reports.
Assists in reviewing Intake to Placement data to track progress and effectiveness of Safety Net Strategies.
Assists with pet food pantry as needed.
Communicates professionally with clients, staff, animal resource team, rescue partners, and members of the public.
May assist with training or mentoring under supervision.
Adheres to safety guidelines and organizational policies.
Participates in off-site and after-hours adoption or community events as needed.
Performs general administrative duties including data entry, document filing, and answering phones.
Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Proficiency with basic computer applications
Comfort working in a diverse and inclusive environment
Familiarity with dog and cat behavior and handling, including pets with medical or behavioral needs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects, and some medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, pushing, pulling, fingering, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for depth perception, color perception, preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts at or within arm's length, operation of machines, and determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work; the worker is subject to inside environmental conditions, and hazards.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
1 years of hands-on animal welfare experience
High school diploma or GED
Knowledge of the Human Animal Support Services (HASS) model
Experience in client service or case coordination
Familiarity with Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Forms
Ability to work well with a wide range of people and in high-stress situations
Digital content creation and comfort learning new tools
LICENSE, CERTIFICATIONS, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
All regular full-time and part-time employees of Spartanburg County are required by state law to participate in the South Carolina Retirement System.
Possession of a valid driver's license issued in the state of South Carolina.
