SUMMARY:
Responsible for overseeing, implementing, and enforcing safety policies and procedures for Gilbert Industries both in the shop and at field job sites across the United States. The Safety Manager will work directly with field crews, supervisors, and management to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and customer safety requirements. This position plays a critical role in promoting a strong safety culture, preventing injuries, conducting training, and ensuring all employees go home safely every day.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Enforce company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations at all shop and field job sites
Travel to job sites across the U.S. to conduct safety audits, inspections, and field observations
Conduct new hire safety orientations and ongoing safety training (including confined space, hot work, fall protection, LOTO, PPE, etc.)
Perform job site hazard assessments and Job Safety Analyses (JSA)
Ensure proper use of PPE and safety equipment at all times
Monitor confined space entries and ensure air monitoring and rescue plans are properly executed
Investigate accidents, near misses, and incidents; complete reports and recommend corrective actions
Work closely with supervisors and project managers to proactively identify and eliminate hazards
Maintain all safety documentation, training records, permits, and inspection logs
Coordinate with customers and site safety teams to meet site-specific safety requirements
Assist with development and continuous improvement of company safety programs and procedures
Conduct toolbox talks and safety meetings
Stop unsafe work practices and correct unsafe conditions immediately
Maintain records of site visits, audits, incidents, and corrective actions
Housekeeping and organizational duties will also be required. Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
May provide functional guidance and safety direction to field crews and supervisors but does not directly supervise employees.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
5+ years of experience in industrial, construction, or heavy manufacturing environments
Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and industrial safety standards
Experience supporting field crews in active job sites and shutdown/turnaround environments
OSHA 30 required (OSHA 500/510 preferred)
CPR/First Aid/AED certification
Confined Space Entry and Fall Protection training (Competent Person preferred)
Experience with hot work, lockout/tagout, crane and rigging, and working at heights
Ability to conduct job site audits, safety inspections, and lead toolbox talks
Experience with JSAs/JHAs, incident investigations, and corrective action tracking
Ability to communicate effectively with field crews, supervisors, and client safety teams
Strong documentation and organizational skills
Comfortable working independently in the field and making safety decisions
Valid driver's license and ability to travel nationwide
Physically able to walk job sites, climb ladders and scaffolding, and work in industrial environments
Experience in tank fabrication, pressure vessels, piping, or structural steel is a strong plus
TRAVEL REQUIRED:
Yes. This position requires frequent travel to job sites across the United States and may involve extended stays based on project schedules.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Stand and walk job sites for extended periods
Climb ladders, scaffolding, lifts, and structures, including tanks
Bend, kneel, crouch, and work in confined or elevated spaces
Lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Wear required PPE for extended periods
Work in indoor and outdoor industrial environments and varying weather conditions
Use vision, hearing, and hands effectively for inspections, communication, and documentation
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in active industrial and construction job sites. The employee is frequently exposed to noise, dust, fumes, welding operations, confined spaces, elevated work areas, moving equipment, and varying weather conditions. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times per company and client requirements. The noise level is typically loud, and work may be performed at heights using lifts, scaffolding, or ladders.
