The Safety Intern will support the Safety team in implementing and maintaining safety, health, and environmental programs. The role offers hands-on experience in field and office settings.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with job site safety inspections and audits
Help ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company-specific safety protocols
Observe and report on-site hazardous conditions and recommend corrective actions
Assist in conducting safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions
Participate in incident investigations and contribute to root cause analysis
Support the development of site-specific safety plans and emergency procedures
Maintain safety records, inspection reports, and documentation
Work closely with site superintendents, project managers, and subcontractors to promote a culture of safety
QUALIFICATIONS
Currently pursuing a degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or a related field
Basic knowledge of OSHA regulations and general construction/demolition safety practices
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and observational abilities
Ability to work in field environments (PPE provided) and travel to various job sites
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications:
OSHA 501 Certification
Interest or coursework in hazardous materials (HAZWOPER), asbestos, or lead abatement
Previous exposure to construction, demolition, or environmental cleanup work is a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at times.
